pupps ladies please come in

Stupid question..My pupps has spread to my arms and legs and the itching is unbearable. When it was only on my stomach it could be controlled with cocoa butter and vitamin e oil. But now it feels like my body is on fire. My  dr. told me to get benadryl but I didn't realize there was a benadryl itch cream and medication. What did you dr. rec.? The topical cream or the oral medication? I would call my office but they are closed already.

Thanks!

  • Bless your heart.  I am familiar with the misery.  I tried the pill, cream, and the spray.  For me, the spray was a good quick fix for large areas, and I would use the cream for smaller, more intense parts of the rash.

I would recommend asking for a referral to a dermatologist, or inquire about a prescription cream.  The ONLY thing that gave me any real relief was an rx for a sarna/triamcinolone acetonide cream.  It cleared it up in 3 days (and mine was very severe).

     Feel better!

This... I first got Rx strength hydrocortisone from my OB, but when it continued to progress she referred me to a dermatologist who gave a Rx for the triamcinolone acetonide.  That got me on the path to healing in a couple days, and I had a severe case as well (my feet blistered... it was so nasty!).  I hope you find some relief soon!

  • Mine actually started developing just the day before I went into labor, just in the stretch marks. I ended up with a c-seciton and afterwards my belly was really red and itchy (they thought it was a reaction to the iodine from surgery (because I have a shrimp allergy).  So I was not diagnosed with PUPPS until 9 days pp when I went to the clinic because the rash had spread to my arms, legs, and back. It was horrible. My OB then recognized what it was right away. Since I had already had the baby she gave me a prescription for a methylpredinisone dose pack (6 day treatment) and within 2 days it was much better. By day 7 once I was off the pills the rash had come back and she gave me another rx for a different steroid and by the time that round of treatment ended the rash was gone.  While dealing with the rash I did end up getting the hydrocortisone spray (since the rash was so extensive it was easier than cream) and that helped some, also cold baths. Good luck!! I hope it resolves soon. If you have not had your LO yet if it is bad enough sometimes they will induce for that reason because they can better treat you once LO is out.
