It's so much fun, but don't go crazy stocking up. You won't know how big baby will be and how fast he/she will grow. Most newborns won't wear NB size for long and my friend's baby was wearing 6 month old clothes way before most babies would, so if you stock up and buy too much for the future, you may be wasting your money. Just a thought....
Re: just a thought on buying clothes...
AND family and friends are going to go baby clothes crazy.
That being said, I have already bought too many clothes. lol
Yes, this too! My mom just found out Wednesday we were having a boy and she's already been shopping...I buy something here and there if it's just too cute to resist, but I'm not giving in to the urge to stock up.
I think this ALL THE TIME!
DH and I are finding out the sex and not telling to try and avoid some of the clothes nonsense. Don't get me wrong, I'm appreciative of gifts. I just remember my SIL finding out she was having a girl. The showers were nothing but little dresses...nothing useful. 90% of the clothes she got went to goodwill/garage sales.
And like you said, who knows what size and with us...what weather? DH was 13 lbs when he was born!!!! That just deletes any NB clothing that might be in the closet.
I PLAN to buy very few clothes myself. Maybe...maybe 10 outfits or so. I'm sure after LO is here and everyone knows it's a boy or girl the clothes will come flooding in.
Yes, those are great deals, but I still wouldn't go crazy. Places always have sales and your baby may not fit into 9 month clothing during the season you are expecting. Just a tip- my friend had this happen to her and has lots of clothes still with tags on them. Her baby was larger (broad shoulders, head, etc) and was wearing 12 month clothes when he was 8 months.
I see what you're saying, but at the same time there are certain things that are season neutral like footed sleepers and onesies.
I'm not going crazy--so far I have bought one outfit and yet I already have close to 50 onesies, and about 20 footed sleepers. Yeah, my family likes to buy clothes!
Breastfeeding and pregnant!
I agree - we were team green for our first and I didn't buy one thing. This time, I can't resist the urge. I'm not going crazy though, just a few things here and there. Definately had to get the "big brother", "little brother" shirts though.
I completely agree! This is our first but the only things we have bought are 2 sleepers for 3$ at the thrift store. I just got a huge tote full of boy clothes and all my friends and SIL have more clothes, shoes, bassinets, etc for me. The only stuff we will buy is what we don't receive from others by the last month of pregnancy. I want to shop so bad but I know we're getting so many clothes/hand-me-downs from others that it's kind of pointless to buy stuff ourselves. We're saving our money for the big stuff.
My family DIDN'T go crazy on buying clothes for us so about two weeks before I was due the realization hit that I had NO clothes for the baby...
DD was a big baby and she was in 0-3mo clothes for a while then pretty much skipped right to 6-9mo... 24mo and 2T are the first ones that they'll be in for a while.. If you're getting shorts, go ahead and get the 2T's because they fit nicely over diapers and they'll be able to wear them a while...
The thing is you don't want to overpurchase but you also don't want to underpurchase either when it comes to clothes for the baby.
