I think part of what he was saying with the pumping (and this is just what I got from it) was that women, ie mothers, aren't given the respect in the workplace to let them stay home and nurse baby longer. I Totally agree with you, that I'm sure 100% of the pumping working moms would rather have baby on them. I just read it as society needs to work harder on treating mothers with babies better. I live in Canada and get a full year of maternity leave, and I am so thankful for that.
Either way, I thought it was interesting in it's entirety. The mammal meaning milk producing, the history of pumps, and nurse maids, all very interesting.
