Pregnancy length?

So is it true that you're really 2 weeks pregnant before you're actually pregnant?

My LMP was June 28th, so would that make me 4.5 weeks or 6.5???

I think what you're referring to is...  pregnancy weeks are calculated from the first day of your LMP but the egg doesn't get fertilized until you ovulate (which in text book cycles is supposed to be 2 weeks later), and then inplantation occurs after that.  So you aren't "technically" pregnant until fertilization and implatation have occured, but they count back "2 weeks" to your LMP.  Does that make any sense???  I'm horrible at trying to explain things...

  • 40 weeks includes the whole cycle.  So that includes the 2 weeks before ovulation since your cycle begins at your LMP.
