Ultrasound results

I just got back from my ultrasound.

They said they could ONLY tell me if it was ectopic (so they would send me to the hospital) but otherwise, they couldn't tell me anything!!!! And my doc appt isn't until Tuesday, so I have 4 days to wait.

They said "We cannot see an ectopic pregnancy but we cannot rule it out since it is too soon to see anything."

I asked why was I sent for an u/s if 4 weeks was too soon? They said "I don't know, maybe the doc didn't know it would be too soon?"  My doc is a family doc, not an OB.

So..... here's what I know, which doesn't feel like much...

- not ectopic as of today, that we know of (can't see anything).

- beta was 24 at 14 DPO, repeat beta tomorrow, results on Tuesday.

- I'm still getting fairly dark positive HPTs, the same as since Tuesday/Wednesday, no darker, no lighter. I will continue testing with ICs.

- smidge of pink spotting last night one time, nothing since.

  • 4w is definitely too soon!  All other signs point to "still pregnant".

  • Also, was it a transvaginal u/s?  I ask because I don't know if they can check for an etopic pregnancy with a transvaginal one.  So, my brain is thinking it was an abdominal u/s, in which case, I've been told even 6w is sometimes too early to tell.

Yeah, I had both today: abdominal and transvaginal.

  • I'm sorry that you don't have any answers yet . My fingers are crossed that everything is okay!
  • I've had lots of ectopics so I can tell you what to look for, but it's too early to know for sure.  Everything could still be ok, or it could end up as a chemical preg and not ectopic.  I am sending you all my prayers, and I don't want to worry you.  I'm providing the below info just from my own experience.

A tubal often starts out as a general tenderness when you press in just above your pelvic bone.  Really early, its not uncommon for the pain to be centralized.  As the pregnancy progresses, the tenderness will shift to the side where the ectopic is.  At that point, you may be able to feel a lump and if you press on that side, the pain will be really sharp.  Before 5.5-6 weeks or so, the most common symptoms are frequent spotting and hcg numbers that rise but don't double as expected.  Often, there's no unusual pain until after 5 weeks.
