How much VD is too much? or what is an appropriate amount. I'm on my 23rd week and it seem to be increasing a bit. I know thats suppose to happen. I'm more of a "specific amount person" basically meaning how much....the books and website describe it as an increasing amount, again, this does not help me.....
I guess I'm questioning this because when my sister was pregnant she had a large amount early (basically enough that she had to change her underwear halfway throughout the day.) she wore panty liners...again is this normal? she delivered super early at 26 1/2 weeks (preeclampsia) To me that seems too much, I guess I am "in my head" afraid that I might end up like her going super early.....does any one have any advice on this subject or similar feelings???
Re: TMI discharge question......
Surprise BFP# 5 - 9/2/16 - Due 5/13/17
The past week or so mine has increased too. I am 23w2d. I had to buy pantyliners and sometimes I have to change them in the middle of the day. (I did buy the least expensive "dry" liners from Always, so I think I will "upgrade" to the next level since mine is a little more watery than usual.)
But I'm not concerned...if I HAD to put a measurement to it? Maybe a teaspoon??
FWIW I had a ton of discharge (had to wear a panty liner and just felt wet all the time) in my first pregnancy and somewhere after 20 weeks I mentioned it to my OB. He tested the discharge to see what it was and it was Bacterial Vaginosis. When I read up on BV online I had no other symptoms of it. I was put on antibiotics because BV during pregnancy causes PTL. It took 3 or 4 rounds of the antibiotic... and the antibiotic sucked. But I'm glad we did it because she made it to 38 weeks.
This time I noticed discharge really early again. Again was BV. They couldn't treat me until 2nd tri but this time they upped the dose of antibiotic and we made DH take it too in case he was passing something back to me. This time it cleared up. I notice discharge from time to time but nothing like what I experienced last time. Last pregnancy it was constant all the way until the end - we stopped treating with antibiotics not because it cleared up but because I made it to a safe point in the pregnancy that she could be delivered safely.
So my feeling on the topic is have it checked out. All they do is swab and look at it under a microscope. My doc believes BV is not tested for enough and it coudl be a big culprit of PTL.
