OK, I'm new to this - I'm having a polyp removed from my uterus that may be preventing me from getting pregnant. My dr tells me today that he wants to start me on birth control soon after the surgery. What??? Does that not defeat the whole purpose? He said it's to control my cycle, but how can I get pregnant? I'm confused...

Here we go again...
Due 8/26/19!
That is the point at the moment is to make sure you don't get pregnant so they can do the surgery. You'll get off of it after the surgery and then you can probably start TTC again either right away or after a cycle (I haven't had a polyp removed so I don't know the wait on that one).
Good luck! And yes, sometimes it seems we have to take 2 steps forward to get a step ahead in the TTC game.

I had polyps removed last month and was put on BCP until I was healed. I do not get periods often so they did it to be able to control when I would get my next cycle so I could start my injections. (Im having my first IUI next week).
I asked the same question you did. My Dr told me that if I didnt take the pills it could be months until my next period. They needed to get baseline BW and US so they could always tell me (based off of those things) exactly where I was in my cycle. Im glad I took the pills because as soon as I was healed, I came right off the pills, and got my period within a few days. I was able to start my shots immediately and things are moving forward so quickly.
