christening/blessing...question

we're having DS's christening/blessing next weekend and i'm not sure what he should wear. i'm told by many older adults that he should just wear a christening gown and i have mine from when i was christened so i was considering it but...........it's a dress!!! would my son look funny wearing it? or is it meant to be a christening gown for that purpose??

anyone else have a son that has any ideas?

I don't have a son but a little boy was christened at the same time as DD and he wore a white suit.  I've also been to christenings where the boys where a gown.  I think it is a personal preference.

I definitely think it is personal preference, BUT if you have yours I would absolutely use that IMO.  My 2 aunts, uncle, mother, brother, sister, girl cousin, boy cousin, and I all wore the same christening gown.  DD would've worn mine also, but my mom couldn't find it anywhere so I had one made out of my wedding gown.  If I am blessed with a son, he will wear it as well.  But just think how special it is to have your gown on your son who can some day have his children wear it.

I had my wedding gown turned into a christening gown. DD wore it and I would put a little boy in it as well. It has lace and whathaveyou, but I still think it's okay.

I wasn't crazy about the formal christening outfits and couldn't find any good all white alternatives, so LO worse this from Ralph Lauren:

I like the christening gown for both boys and girls, but a white suit would also be nice. DH's family has a family christening gown that all boys and girls have worn for several generations.

My son wore a gown that my mother made.  Use the gown.

DS wore an ugly yellow plastic dress looking thing. FIL and DH were both baptized in it so we picked tradition over fashion.

I'm going through this now. I don't have a family gown, but if I did, I'd have DS in it.i don't think boys look weird in gowns, but I also am not sure what I want to do since we don't have a family gown.
