Reglan Milk Production Drug

Did anyone take this? I am freaking out about not having my milk come in. This is the drug the doctor on call gave me. I read up on it and it has terrible side effects. I have not taken it yet until I talk to my doctor and his pedi tomorrow.

Also, if you had milk production issues did you keep trying to nurse the baby and then supplement? I think I might have messed up because I let them formula feed him and I just pumped. I have not put him to the actual breast in a couple of days. I guess I would be considered a EP? We give him what little I do produce (just a cc or two)

Thanks for your advice and listening. I feel like I screwed up and feel really guilty.

Re: Reglan Milk Production Drug

  • i did not take this. but finnegan's pediatrician said if i was having a problem with milk production i could take this tea stuff that you can get at a few stores (i forget which ones but i can ask if you want - just page me). ?she said it was in a pink and white box.

try not to feel guilty about what is going on. trust me, i have been there and it is so hard not to, i know!! i have had a really hard time BFing. ?first he wouldn't latch, then he would just fall asleep. just this past week things have been going better, but they still aren't perfect by any means. ?he has been BFing all of the time now (except for a bottle of formula in the middle of the night) and is getting plenty, we think. ?in his first 6 weeks he got more food from a bottle (expressed breast milk and formula) than from me - the BFing just was not working, no matter what i tried. ?but i stuck with it. ?and even though he was on mostly bottles for that long of a period, he is adjusting to the breast very well now.?

good luck! ?and try not to feel guilty. ?no matter what, it will be okay! :)

  • I am sorry you're having difficulties :(

Try Mother's Tea Milk - I bought some at Kroger today.

I would try to put your child on the breast as much as possible...I would think that the natural suckling might tell your body to produce milk faster than a pump would.

Have you talked to a lactation consultant?

You can also try Fenugreek (its in the tea but not nearly enough) and eat oatmeal.
