Today feels like a mixed bag! I am relieved that my lining got better (5B yesterday to 9B today) and I still have two or three good sized follicles. But I am terrified to trigger tonight! I am putting it off until 8pm I hopes that I can find the courage. DH keeps offering to do it, but I think that might make it even worse.
I realize that I am building this up to be so much more than it really is and I still can?t make myself do it. Any advice to make this silly little shot seem less scary?
Re: Update and advice needed
I haven't had to give myself the trigger... my RE or nurse does it in office... but it doesn't hurt at all. I can't imagine having to give it to myself though...I'm sure I'd be freaked out too.
You may want YH to do it... that way you can look away and focus on staying relaxed so it'll be easy peasy. GL!

I hate shots! I can get by when the nurse has given me the trigger before because i am not in control.
It's not that bad. I was scared of needles before doing IVF and it came to be second nature by the end. Try not to get yourself worked up beforehand. It doesn't hurt. It's a little prick, if that.
Remember to count to 5 before pulling the needle out so that nothing leaks.
This. And it's ok to ice the area first (and have a glass of wine, lol!) as long as you use an alcohol wipe afterwards, then the shot. I know the fear, trust me. I refused to do the practice injection at the required IUI seminar! Now I've done it twice and it's really, honestly, no big deal at all.
The ovidrel pen (if that's what you are using) has a tiny tiny needle. Take it out of the fridge an hour before you give yourself the shot, so it has time to warm up to room temperature, then you won't feel a thing. You could probably even do it with your eyes closed. Seriously, smallest needle I have ever seen! And let the alcohol dry before you give the shot, otherwise it will burn.

It doesn't hurt at all!!!! Particuarly if you numb the site with a little ice first.
I still sit on the edge of the bed for a good 10 minutes before I can get up the courage to stick myself.
