We went out of town last weekend and flying home with a toddler after a long, overwhelming weekend wasn't fun. After we boarded the plane there was an announcement that we'd have to sit there for 30 minutes for a mechanical problem. DD was incredibly restless and I was tired and frustrated. I pulled out all the stops to keep her still and quiet (doll & new doll carrier, play phone, new crayon wallet, singing songs), but DD didn't care. She was only sitting & amused/happy for a total of 3 minutes. Really, she was just tired, cranky and unable to wind down. I could tell she felt confined by our tiny space. We both needed to nap.
I can't believe she gave her momma the, "What are you going to do about this situation?" look.
She even dropped her baby onto the floor head-first:
"Is that the best you can do, Momma?"
It doesn't look like it, but she'd been standing up in the seat, crouching onto the floor, climbing on my lap... I finally had to get serious about getting this kid to simmer down. Then I looked at the pictures on her shirt--a hand in water, a heart; a circle with a dot in the middle. "Care Instructions: Hand wash only; love unconditionally; breastfeed as required."
Then she was going, going...
...and gone! Success! Time for momma to take a nap, too!
**sigh** One day it will take more than a boob and a wrap to fix most of my parenting "problems."
Re: while parenting is still (relatively) easy--PsIP
Awwwww, that so cute and funny!
...and I'm going to pretend I never read that last bit. Nope, that day will never come...la-la-laaaaa!
I love your siggy!!! I say, "Anecdotes are not data."
This! I'm still mourning the loss of him nursing to sleep every night and nap. Those were the good days!
I love the pic and your story - how cute.
AND - where did you get that shirt?! "breastfeed as required" I LOVE IT!
This. Me too.
Aw, how sweet!
I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.
Me three!

that is such an adorable story, i loved your whole post, thanks for sharing!!!!
Thanks for the kind words! It's funny to look back on her behavior and my frustration now. It was NOT funny while I was living it.
I buy most of my propaganda from Cafepress.

I love this! And I love the t-shirt too!
Nursing into toddlerhood has so many wonderful perks doesn't it?
