When the L cried, I would always bring him a snack (easy distraction) sippy cup, his lovey and his paci. He had his comfort items with him. Depending on the age, you can try and bribe as well.
eventually she will get used to it and grow to enjoy going there. You have to be consistent about bringing her though. And last its an hour. It won't kill her and you get to have your time.
-Pick exercises that you can do that you can be pulled away from. That way if it isn't working, you aren't totally disappointed and you have the means to be there right away.
-After you walk away, come back and observe what is going on. Is it just a new environment or are they not taking care of her needs?
-If it just isn't working, find an alternative way to work out. Whether it is before your significant other leaves for work, after she is put to bed, etc.
-Also know it is okay that if it isn't working to walk away from your gym. We had this happen with the Y. Even though our kids were 3 on the edge of turning 4, you figured watching them would be a no brainer. Wrong! The people did not want to mediate situation of other kids stealing toys or not sharing so they pulled me out of class instead. I ended up having to just quit my gym membership because alternative times didn't work and they weren't doing their job of watching the kids. It sucked but I had to do it.

Joining a gym was the BEST THING I ever did!! It took Jake almost two months to feel comfortable enough to not cry when I dropped him off. He got to know the girls and now runs in there faster than I can keep up with him. Consistency is key, I was told to start with 10 minutes and work my way up. There were many times I had to leave after a short time but I went back after DH got home to finish. It was super important to me that I make it work because I need that hour, the workout, and the boys love the play time offered in the gym. I think it also helps that I often go to the gym at the same time on the same days, there seems to be a group of mamas in every class I go to and Jake now knows their kiddos. Familiar faces all around makes it all easier. Good luck!!
A snack! What a good idea. I could also do short visits that increase in length over a week or 2.
Thanks! I really need this to work. Between mil and DD and Dh I just really need an hour to myself.

Here's what I tried when I went the gym route.
