Do these sound like real contractions?

Lost my MP on Tuesday, and have been having more mucus discharge since then.  Also since Tuesday, I've been having period-like cramps.  This afternoon, the cramps are consistently 30 seconds long and 9-10 minutes apart.  Do real contractions start out as feeling like period cramps?  Just wondering if this is the real thing or not.  Thanks!

    I had period-like crampy contractions for 2 days before I went into labor. When I got my first REAL contraction I knew it was the real thing right away because it was so much more painful and intense. Sounds like you could be having a baby soon! Good luck :)

    This is how mine started this time as well.  Mine even stopped for a couple hours and then came back with a vengence.  I hope this is it for you!

    I started having period like cramps about 8 am and by 6 pm they were definitely contractions. Had my baby at 5:59 am the next day.

    Dang it, my contractions died down later last night, and they are sporadic again :(  Going for an NST this morning, and hopefully things will pick back up soon!
