? for moms of PT'd girls....

This may be TMI, but does your DD wipe herself at all?  I have my DD wipe her 'front' when she pees only, but of course she does it back to front.  I want her to do it front to back to minimize UTIs (which I am very prone to), and I'm wondering if anyone has been able to get their LO to do it that way.  If so, when did you teach this (how soon after PTing, or right from the start)?

We just started PTing last Saturday, so she has learned a TON in a short amount of time and I don't want to pile on.  TIA

  • I believe you meant moms of PT'd girls :)

I let them wipe themselves most of the time. I make sure I wipe with a flushable wipe a few times/day. DD1 is 4.5 and I rarely help her, and I guess it's the same for DD2 (2.75, has been pt'ed for almost a year). I wiped most of the time when they were younger and new at it, but still let them try. IDK--my kids have all gone on their own since the beginning of PT'ing, so I'm not usually in there with them.

  • I take no credit- they taught her to wipe at preschool. She does it front to back all the time now. There was about a 3 month gap between her being PT and starting pre-school last summer and it just never occurred to me to try to teach her to wipe then (she had just turned 2).

I still have to help wipe with poop. She can do it, but never gets all of it like I can.

  • I taught my DD to just "pat" it with the TP after she got a UTI.

  • DD kind of pats herself, just to get any drops of pee off.
