s/o: BTDT c/s moms- hospital clothes

With all this hospital talk, I'm really confused as to whether or not I want to bring clothes for my four day hospital stay following a c-section...From those that have gone through it, did you end up staying in the hospital gown the whole time/most of the time? Should I go ahead and bring a number of pairs of yoga pants/nursing tanks? TIA

Re: s/o: BTDT c/s moms- hospital clothes

  • With DS {c/s baby} I stayed in the hospital gowns the whole time. I didn't want to get my regular clothing all messy with all the fluids, blood, etc. This time around I'll be doing the same. Plus with a c/s you will most likely NOT want anything tight up against your tummy for a few days. The hospital gowns are nice and comfy. : )

  • DS1 was a c-section and after a day or so I wore my own comfy clothes the remainder of the time. It just made me feel better - more like me, I guess - to be dressed. Even if it was just in my sweats/comfies.

  • I wasn't really able to plan much ahead of time because I was in antepartum for a month prior.  I got out of that hospital gown as soon as I could and put on my regular maternity clothes again.  Of course I was walking back and forth to the NICU and not just staying in my room.

ETA: My PP bleeding was really light, so I wasn't worried about getting my clothes messy.  I even had to have my mom go buy smaller pads that didn't look like diapers under my pants.  Having yoga pants over my incision didn't bother me at all.

  • I had DD at 6:47pm on a Wednesday and didn't shower until Thursday afternoon.  Until then I kept the hospital gown on.  After my shower I wore a light weight robe, nursing tank and yoga pants and I felt so much better.  I bled a lot but I wore the mesh panties (LOVE!) and pads provided in the hospital and I was fine.  I plan on doing the same thing this time around.

  • For the first 24 hrs or so you will have to wear the gown and the HOT and sexy mesh undies - oh the joys - talk about waffle a$$!!

After they took the catheter out I wanted to take a shower and clean up so I wore a nursing tank and some comy yoga pants w/ my own big momma panties - I hated the mesh ones.  I stayed in my own clothes for the duration of my stay.  Unless your hospital dictates it you are not forced to stay 4 days... I went home after 3 nights with c/s #1 and after 2 with c/s32.

  • I stayed in the gown the whole time.  For the first few days they kept having to check my bleeding.  So that would have been annoying to have to keep pulling my pants down.  I didn't get dressed until the morning we left and I just wore out what I wore in.  Yoga pants, a t-shirt and a hoodie.  I'm having a repeat and thought about bringing 2 pairs of yoga pants with me.  I did wear a nursing tank or a sports bra under my gown though.

ALL I wanted was to be in "normal' clothes, I hated the gown. I had DD at 12:23 in the afternoon, had to stay in bed until about 10pm that evening, then was dressed and up the next morning.

  • I am not c-section mom but I thought I could share my experience about hospital gowns. I couldn't wait to get out of that thing, the next day I put on my own clothes and felt so much more human. I chose a red oversize t-shirt type of nightwear, DH teased me about it being red to camouflage any bloody messes :P
