I have read it does not work well until the 3rd tri but some have been able to hear the HB around 24 weeks. I am 27 weeks and still can't hear it but he seems to sit as far back as possible and even my OB has issues finding his HB at times lol.
Are you referring to a doppler? I know most dopplers won't work for a while, but if you buy the really nice ones (or rent - BabyBeats.com) it should pick it up between 8 to 10 weeks. We had no problem with ours - at13 weeks.
Try doing it on a full bladder in the morning.
Also, the baby's position or position of your uterus could prevent you from hearing it. Make sure to use the gel, you can't hear without!
hey Erin-that maybe true for some women, I personally love it and heard his heartbeat week 24!!! :-) it took me about 3 times before i heard it for the first time becuase it was hard to find the heartbeat, so girls don't give up, if you don't hear it after a few tries, just try again in a couple of weeks. oh and don't be like me and forget to put it on Airplaine mode or else it doesn't work at all! and use a different headset (the iphone one isn't good, use a normal one) Have a great day :-)
