When are you moving your L.O out of their crib? And what will they transition into?
We're thinking of getting Elyse a twin bed when we move. I have a whole bunch of doubts and worries about this so I'm curious about what everyone else is doing? Specially those of you who have number two on the way.
Re: Moving out of the crib... when will you make the transition?
this 100%. we won't make the transition until she attempts to climb out, there's no reason to! she rolls every which way and always has a limb sticking out between the slats LOL

J can't use his crib anymore. He can get out. Not so much by climbing but he pushes himself up like you do when you get out of a pool. Then he would topple out face first. I tested it out a few other times after I he did it and he thinks it's a fun game and will try to do it even when he isn't upset about being in there (he goes to sleep on his own easily).
We converted his crib to the a toddler bed but I am concerned he would fall out every once in a while since he moves around so much.
So honestly I think he will just sleep on his mattress on the floor for a long while. Right now his mattress is in our room b/c that is the only upstairs room we cool with a/c. He will go to sleep in there pretty easily at his normal bedtime without us and we can watch him on the monitor to make he isn't getting up to get into things. When we move it into his room we will have to babyproof (probably by moving the dresser into the closet, and taking out the vintage toys and putting a gate on the door).
Hmm interesting! So many of my real life friends are moving their toddlers (same age as E) before the baby comes. But none of you are making the transition.
Elyse hasn't tried to climb out yet, so that's not an issue right now. She's pretty happy where she is so I think I'm going to leave her in there at least until after our life settles down after the baby is born.
We're borrowing a cosleeper for baby 2, so I'm hoping that will work for us and we won't have to worry about transitioning Elyse until she's a bit older.
Married Bio
Libby has napped a handful of times on the twinsized daybed in her room, but for now, we have no plans to transition her out of her crib or even convert it to the toddler bed.
Our plan is to have her sleep in her crib until at least next summer (the new baby will be about 6 months and she will be 2.5 years) and then will probably start napping her in the twinbed (if she's still napping by then) and fully transition her to her big girl bed by age 3 so the baby can be in the crib by then (age 1). We intend to cosleep/bedshare with the new baby...probably for the first year like we did with Libby, so the timing should be fine. Plus, by then, I hope that Libby with be out of diapers so she'll need to be able to get up from bed to potty at night.

This for us as well. My guys move SO much in their sleep. Basically my plan is to keep 'em in their cribs until it's impossible lol.
