2nd Trimester

Baby movement?!?!?!?!?!?!

This is my first child!! So everything that has happened during this pregnancy has been new to me! When should you feel baby movement? I think I have felt some flutters, but no kicks, although I am not really sure what it should feel like. Some of my friends have said that they felt baby movement as early as 15 weeks. I am only 16 weeks right now. Just curious. And honestly, I know very little about what I am supposed to be feeling. Thanks so much!!!

Re: Baby movement?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • It sounds about right. Usually it feels like butterflies fluttering, so congrats!!! This is my second preg. didn't feel flutters, but this one likes to bounce and roll ;) We're about 19 weeks. Enjoy the soft, gentle movements, because they'll get more fun!!!

  •    For me, I found they felt more like flicks or twitches inside my belly...Almost sort of a "ping" feeling. I never did feel flutters , to me that makes me think of queesy butterfly feelings. I do however now at 22 weeks get weird sensations when baby rolls or moves around, but my kicks and jabs have always been more of a flick. You may be feeling baby, especially if you do not have gas that follows. Forever I did not know wheither it was baby or gas, until about 19 weeks or so...DH felt baby kick at 20 weeks 4 days. You will learn the difference between your own body and baby! This is my first by the way. It is all pretty new and exciting :)

  • Mine's been giving me little pops and kicks for a couple of weeks now, but they are just starting to get regular. Almost a guarantee at this point that between 10 - 12 at night he will be partying!

The first movements felt like popcorn or bubbles popping in my stomach and no it feels more like pokes. I can also feel when he rolls into a different position, which is pretty hard to describe other than to say it feels like exactly what it is!

  • The only thing I have felt so far would be described as muscle twitches.  I'm not sure if that's movement or just my muscles actually twitching because my stomach is growing.  ??

  • I wasn't sure I was feeling movement until about 19 weeks, but it is possible to feel it earlier.  The average for women with their first is 18-22 weeks.
  • I went from feeling nothing, to feeling him pretty much everyday since about 17 1/2 weeks. I skipped past the 'butterfly' feeling and went straight to pokes, twitches and nudges. I felt some pops probably starting around 16 weeks, but I always just figured it was probably gas....so that's why I don't consider those as movement. You will feel lo soon, it's right around the corner! And soo cool. My DH could feel lo from the outside probably about 2 weeks ago and we can both see movement from the outside now.
