For the women who were overweight before getting pregnant, or for those of you wanting to lose the pregnancy weight.
What are your big plans for weight loss after the baby is born? I know I can't do anything to drastic because I plan on breastfeeding.. but I feel like I need to do something pretty intense to get rid of this weight! I'm making a promise to myself to lose all baby weight + all unnecessary weight I had before!
Just looking for some ideas! ![]()
Re: What's your weight loss plan after baby?
I think having a goal to keep me motivated is the most important thing.
Before I was pregnant, I signed up for a 5k every month because I knew I would have to keep running to stay in shape for the run. Plus, I already paid the enterance fee, so I might as well do it, right? I plan to do that again once LO arrives.

start with walking. walking and more walking.
I hope that some of the weight will come off as my calories decrease.
but I do need to do some kind of core work eventually. I want my stomach to be almost flat again if possible.
DH and I are going to start running together and sign up for a 5k. It'll be something fun to do together and keep us both motivated with the added benefit of helping me lose the baby weight. I've never been extremely active or physical, so I'm really looking forward to the challenge.

Breastfeeding, eating healthy, and the 30 Day Shred did the trick last time. Granted, I had a giant motivating factor in my wedding that was taking place 5 months post partum. Hopefully, I'll be just as motivated this time around.
Baby is due at the beginning of October, and where I live the weather is usually pretty mild until mid-November, so until I'm cleared for more strenuous exercise, my plan is to do a LOT of walking around our neighborhood, which is great for that kind of mild exercise - slight elevation changes and quiet streets
As the weather gets colder and I don't want to be outside as much, I'm going to go back to working out and eating following the Body for Life plan, which is what I did a few years ago when I lost about 30lbs. It's not rocket science - alternating HIIT cardio days with weight training, and eating smaller, balanced meals throughout the day with a slight focus on keeping the protein intake higher. I also really want to try Zumba!
ETA - planning on bf'ing too - hopefully that will help my body kick some of the baby weight naturally!

"There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning.
I will be doing my best to EBF, which will certainly help.
Once I'm cleared for exercise, I plan to make the gym my daytime home. My gym offers childcare for 2 hours for $4, so if I go to a class a day, the weight will melt off.
Also, I'll give up ice cream, but I'll sub wine back in here and there!
I plan to watch my caloric intake, but I plan to breast feed too, so I am sure I will have to adjust accordingly. I plan to healthy and gradually get back to my old exercise routine.
This is a great idea!
I have an elliptical machine at home that I plan to use, and I love love love Jillian Michaels dvd's. And when the weather gets nice I will take LO out for walks and jogs.
This and walking with the baby in the stroller as much as possible. Plus I plan to incorporate a weight routine again. I have heard that breastfeeding really helps with the weight liss and tightening up of our stomach muscles. Plus WW has BF moms add point to their day to make sure that they are getting enough nutrition. My MIL will be here until Feb 19th so once the initial 6 weeks are out of the way, she can watch the baby and I can go to the gym for a hour or so each day.
Yep! I did WW a few years ago and loved it. It was like a game to me, so it kept me interested. I can only hope they haven't changed it. Although, I only did it online, because I was an expat in Arabia and there wasn't a WW center anywhere near by. I hope going to actual meetings is even more encouraging than the online weight-loss graph.
Make a pregnancy ticker
I plan to breastfeed, so that will hopefully help. And I will do cardio/weights/yoga, which I've been doing throughout my pregnancy. Lots of walking at first also, especially til I'm cleared for more intense activity.
For me, the hardest part will probably be diet. I eat very well overall, but right now I am not being mindful of portions or really worrying about extra treats. To shift back into a weight loss mentality will be a bit of a challenge. I will probably follow something similar to the Abs Diet.
Breastfeeding, and then once cleared after my c-section, will get back into lots of walking and pilates until I can do more intense exercise.

This. When I have a goal for running (distance or time) I find that signing up for races really helps to keep me motivated. Nothing beats that race day feeling!
RUNNING! DF and I had trained for and ran a half marathon in December 2010, and then we went straight into training for a full marathon- planning to run in April of this year, but we got a precious little surprise in February with a positive pregnancy test...one thing we were not planning for, haha.
Anyway, all that to say that a full marathon is still definitely in my sights even though I will have to start back from scratch with training. I know that this will take all the pregnancy weight off and then some from my experience training for the half. It will be getting cold outside in the Northeast where I am living now, but I plan to just dress accordingly and still train. I hope to run a marathon by next summer if not before.
Note to self: stop eating mcgriddles and gorditas now to make this easier...
I plan on giving up white foods. That always works for me...only whole grains and no sugar. I also plan on BF for a while...hopefully that will help. I will be getting back to running when cleared and I will do some px90ish videos too. I cant decide which one...we have px90 but I am looking at some others too.
Prayer...
I took spin classes 3x a week pre-pregnancy, I doubt I'll be able to go quite that much, but I'm going to try and get back on a spin schedule.
