So after 14 weeks of no weight gain, Ive started my uphill climb on the scales. It was so small start either, literally 2.5 pounds overnight.
I know I'm pregnant and I'm going to gain weight... but couldnt it go a half pound at a time? I had such a impossibly hard time losing weight after my daughter that I resolved to stave it off as long as possible this time, and work hard to shoot for a 10-15 pound gain this time. (doctor approved).
OK.. Now someone tell me I'm being ridiculous to be worried about 2.5 pounds at 1 weeks...

I agree with the pp! hahaha I'm sure some of it is just extra weight that can vary from day to day! Don't worry about it!
The bloat confuses things, that's for sure.
If you're working out and eating right, I wouldn't be concerned about any weight gain - because it means it's all necessary for baby. I imagine every woman, too, needs to gain a little differently. I'd just eat right, work out, and not worry about it!
I wouldn't worry about the 2.5 pounds ... I agree about the pp and water weight comment above it is probably what caused the increase. I weighed myself one day recently and I had gained about the same amount overnight it seemed.. and literally the next day I stepped on the scale and it was back to the original weight! Go figure! From what I've been hearing around these boards, your body will gain what it needs to in order to nuture a healthy growing baby, just make sure you eat well and exercise if you're able to :-)
Again, I wouldn't worry about the weight I'm sure you look great!
This.
I just went through tthe same thing...in fact still bothering me. I have not gained anything yet and am 14 1/2 weeks but I feel like I have gained like 10lbs. I struggled for many years with my weight. I know this is a good gain but it still bothers me. I know this is crazy!!! I truely think that when you lose weight and struggle to get it off it plays mind games with you! But 2.5lbs is not bad at all.......Nothing to worry about....remember this is a good gain in weight.

Seriously? Sorry that's absurd. I gained 25 pounds in 19 weeks. A lot I know but whatever.
I am shocked a doctor would approve a 10-15 pound weight gain unless you were pretty overweight to start.
Focus on the things that matter. A healthy baby and mom.
I got on the scale today and have gained 15.
I'd be more concerned about only gaining 2lbs at this point, unless you are a pregorexic dont they rec about 10-15lbs by 20 weeks, then 1lb per week after that??
OP- 2.5 lbs isn't that big of a weight gain, even for just a day. Normal women can vary by up to 4 lbs in a day (not pregnant) just based on water weight, bowel movements, eating big/small meals, etc. I've personally experienced significant weight gain and loss in short periods of time like that, and every time I go to my OB I've asked about it, and they tell me it might not be "normal," but it doesn't concern them unless you've been unable to eat or drink, or you're overexercising or bingeing. HTH.
