question about femara and cycle length

hi ladies!

i am really not trying to fish for any am i pregnant vibes and i hope that maybe some of you can give me some insight. i am mostly a lurker but have posted some. the info in my siggy is not all up-to-date or even correct so a little background on me...started TTC June 2010 got a BFP in July 2010 then mc in August 2010. DH and I have been trying again since Nov. 2010 with no luck. i started seeing an RE in May 2011.  DH was diagnosed with a small varicocele but SA's have been coming back great!! all my blood tests have been coming back normal. never been diagnosed with anything and periods have always been regulr.

i was on clomid 50mg last month with ovidrel trigger shot and TI which resulted in a BFN despite having a 23mm follie at trigger time. This month i am taking femara 5mg with ovidrel trigger shot and TI. i had a 16mm follie at cd 12 and waited one day to trigger for more growth. it is CD27 for me today and 14 days past trigger. i did not chart to ease some stress or do OPKs so not 100% sure what day i ovulated but probably cd14 or 15 since i did a trigger shot. i attempted to test out my trigger but got tired of doing it. my last faint positive was on 11 days past trigger. on an unmedicated cycle my cycle is usually 27-29 long. last month on clomid i had a very short cycle (i think 25 or 26 days) and i usually always spot at least 1-2 days before AF even on clomid. anyways, i tested today at 14 days past trigger as i have no signs of AF or even any symptoms whatsoever just to see and got a BFN.

so after all of that i guess my question is did femara change the way your cycles looked (i.e. length, spotting) and if so by how much? my luteal phase is on average 13 days. TIA ladies for even reading this.

Re: question about femara and cycle length

  • I typically have a 30 day cycle and 14 day luteal phase.  On femara my cycles were 32-34 days.  On clomid my cycle was either a few days shorter or normal.  I hope for you the no AF means BFP, good luck!!!

  • I took Femara for 3 cycles, and each cycle was slightly different.  It did, for two of those cycles, increase my luteal phase by 1-2 days, and it also shortened my pre-AF spotting for 1 or 2 of the cycles.  One cycle I had a 16 day luteal phase (ridiculoulsy long for me - normally I'm like 12 days) but several days of spotting.  Good luck.
