One of my sorority sisters has a at home daycare. She has maybe about 4-7 kids at a time, ranging from about 1 1/2 - 3ish, I think. My little guy will be about 4 months but only going as needed (probably once a week and probably not until 4 1/2 months-5 months). She's kind of our back up (my mom and DH will mostly watch him at home). We went to see the house and were happy with it. He seemed to really like her, and she assured us that she will be sure the kids are safe around him. If he is there and it's hot, they wouldn't go to the park, for example that day, etc. Her younger sister who is in college helps out sometimes too.
I think that I'm okay with it. It's not too often, and she's someone that I know, with a background in education.
Would you be comfortable with all of the "older" kids around your baby?
Re: Would you feel comfortable with this (day care)?
Well in my area they can only have a certain number of infants...so the rest have to be older. I'm perfectely fine with older kids around LO. They play with her and I think that she sees what they do and wants to do it too, so it will help with her developmentally. But that's just my theory.

this.
DS goes FT and at most he is 1 of 4 total.
In Texas it is also 5 toddlers to 1 adult, or 4 infants. The way it was explained to me, if there is a mix in age ranges (in this case infants and tods) the ratio goes by the youngest. For instance, it would be legal to have 1 infant and 3 toddlers for a total of 4 kids, since the ratio for infants is 4.
Sorry if I made that confusing...After working with tods & 2's in a daycare setting, there is no way I would want an infant with that many toddlers! But then again, working there is also the reason I would do anything possible to keep DD out of daycare. I do understand that it is necessary in many, may situations though!
