KC Allergy and Asthma?
DS had a serious allergic reaction to food last weekend and blood tests showed possible allergies to all nuts & some environmental stuff. Our pediatrician has referred us to KC Allergy & Asthma Associates and we have an appt. there next week. Has anyone else used that practice either for themselves or DC? Anyone have a kiddo with food allergies? We've got an Epi-Pen but we'll have to talk to the allergist for other steps we'll need to take.

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. We just found out a few months ago DD has a peanut allergy. We weren't referred to a specialist (other than CMH for the testing) but hers is pretty basic.

I didn't realize there was a Food Allergy board; thanks for the tip. I'll definitely check it out. The allergist also said that the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network is a great resource.
We had our appt. last week and the allergist reviewed the blood test results. He said there are a lot of false positives, which was probably why peanuts showed up even though DS is fine with PB. We're to avoid all tree nuts (walnuts, pistachios, etc.) but continue giving him PB since he's tolerated that fine and stopping it might actually be more risky than continuing. They'll recheck the blood tests next year and see if anything's changed. I was thankful he didn't think we needed to do the scratch tests; I've heard those are pretty miserable for little ones! I guess we will get better at reading the labels on prepared food & at restaurants, though I would guess that pistachios are a lot less likely to be hidden in stuff than peanuts!
