If it has two holes for legs, then it's most likely a crotch dangler. I had one of those for Joy's first month and it sucked for my back, even with the waist belt. Those are also believed to be bad for baby's spine.
If it looks a bit like the Ergo with the legs wrapping around the parent and keeps LO in a nice seated position, then it might be a good substitute for the Ergo. I've never tried one so I don't know how comfortable it is or how good the quality is, but from the pictures it looks fine.
That is the company that had infant deaths and a recall of one if their carriers. They are not a reputible babywearing company.

I had an Infantino carrier that I tried out with DD early on. It was confusing, and seemed really uncomfortable for her! It wasn't worth the $15 I paid for it (new).

I got the infantino for my dh (b/c I didn't want to have to buy 2 ergos) it was a complete waste of money, was terribly uncomfortable for my dh and looked it for my dd...so I ended up buying a second ergo anyways...

ITA. It seems that you need more information to make a decision. "Infantino" only describes the manufacturer. They could be selling a mei tai, one of the better SSCs, or a not-so-good SSC. Obviously, they no longer make/sell the bag-style carriers that were recalled.

Re: offered an infantino carrier - any good?
Do you know what it looks like?
