Frustrated with Clomid

I just went in for my first monitoring appointment on round 4 of clomid IUI.  I am hoping that it was just too early, but it looks like another non-responsive cycle.  I am already taking 150mg.  Does anyone know how much more they can give me?  It took a lot for me to agree to a 4th try b/c clomid is making me CRAZY - not sleeping, hot flashes, headaches!  How does everyone else survive the clomid?!

Sorry for the vent. But chin up and just keep trekking.

Re: Frustrated with Clomid

  • I hated being on Clomid.  My RE wouldn't let me be on it more then two cycles, then he switched me to injectibles and now we're doing ivf.  have you talked to your doctor about trying something else?  I never took more then 100 mg

  • Clomid made me very sick AND crazy AND I responded on 50mg but didn't respond at all to 100 mg, go figure.  My doctor changed me to Fremara and it was smooth sailing this past time.  Maybe that can be an option for you?
Trying for baby #2 since May 2010. DX elevated prolactin. Clomid round 1-50mg=BFN. Clomid round 2-100mg = BFN. Began taking Cabergoline and prolactin levels regulated. July IUI#1= BFN. Break cycle for August and BFP on 8/26/11! Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker BabyFruit Ticker

Oh, I hated Clomid and Clomid hated me.  Did NOTHING.  Femara, on the other hand, worked beautifully - except for the "getting pregnant" part...

  • I second (or third?) Femara.  It was so much better than clomid for me as far as side effects, and I also got pregnant on Femara.

I think you can also add injectibles if you aren't responding.

  • I hated Clomid as well.  I responded on 150 mg (2-4 follies each cycle) but it made me crazy.  And I didn't get pregnant.  After 6 cycles moved onto Femara, not responding so well to that, but no side effects.  Good luck.
  • Thanks everyone!  My blood test from yesterday showed an E2 of 214, so fingers crossed I am just a slow responder.  I think the game plan is to move straight to IVF after this.  Injectables might eat up too much of our insurance money and with the better success rate with IVF, it might just be worth it!
