Just had a quick story to share, I have horrible knots in my shoulders and neck and have for awile now. They come and go but tonight they were really hurting. DH set up a massage room with candles and music. He gave me a great massage and all this was before he left for work ( He works midnights). It was wonderful and I so totally appreciate!
Now a question, anyone else get knots like this? They are painful, the throb and at times I cannot lift my arm above my head. I have done PT for it but it didnt help. Any ideas on how to stop my shoulders from getting these knots?
Re: Awwing DH and a question
I dont know, I try not to tense up. It happens wether or not I do anything during the day. It happened the other day after swimming.
Aw, sorry to hear it. Hmmm....no idea then (I'm not very much of a back expert. :P) Not really supposed to have any proper massage during first tri (what you DH did was fine, I mean more of a deep tissue massage), but after you are in your second tri, maybe a prenatal massage therapist will have some advice
BTW: Props to your husb. That was nice!!
Awww, your husband sounds so sweet!! What a nice thing for him to do! (My DH tries to give massages, but, well... :X it usually hurts more than it helps, so I have to ask him to stop...)
I definitely get knots pretty similar to yours... Past couple of weeks, sometimes I can just be standing there, doing nothing at all, and feel one of the knots behind my left shoulder blade pop over a bone, and it feels like someone's poking me in the back. Ugh. It's definitely gotten worse since pregnancy; I blame heavier breasts!
For me, at least -- a large component of the knots are poor posture.
Especially at the computer! And some of it is breast-weight, sigh.
Stretching regularly and minding your posture are two of the few things I find to be effective at all, other than regular massage. :-/

Wow - can I borrow your husband please? LOL
And I get that way too - I think mine is from sleeping in one spot all night and the fact that I sit at a computer all day..
