Pregnant after IF

Yesterday's u/s at 9w5d showed irreg. heartbeat. Any experience w/this?

My RE does weekly u/s and then releases you at 12 weeks.  So we had our weekly u/s yesterday and baby looks great and was moving all around in there!  Heart rate was 178 bpm but when we listened to the heart rate, it sounded a bit irregular.  RE wasn't too concerned but said he'd call MFM to see if they want to see me sooner than 2 weeks from now.  I will see MFM my entire pg because of being a Type 1 diabetic.  MFM was called and said they didn't need to see me any earlier because they obviously can't see any of the cardiac anatomy this early in the pg.  It will be a wait and see kind of thing.

Has anyone else had their little one have an irreg. heart rate on u/s around 10 weeks and how did it turn out?  We're hoping that it will work itself out and that it's nothing to worry about. And if it's something that sticks with LO, hopefully it's something that's easily treated upon birth. RE also said it was difficult to get the heart rate because the baby was so squirmy in there.  I am not trying to worry because baby is growing properly and it's heart rate was nice and strong.  DH googled heart rate irreg and said it seems like it's common at this stage in fetal develop.

  • My RE also did weekly u/s and released me at 12 weeks but he never measure the heart rate. He only made sure that the heart is still flickering and the fetus is still growing. I asked him once what's the heart rate and he said that it's too early to get an accurate measurement.

  • When I went for a 10 week ultrasound, my LOs heartrate was 180.  The ultrasound tech told me that between weeks 9 and 10 it speeds up considerably and then slows back down in the weeks following, so maybe the heartbeat sounded irregular because it was just now starting to speed up?  The good thing is that 178 is a great heartrate for your baby!
