She's trying to climb out of her crib

What should I do?  Oh gosh, she's only 15 months, I don't think she's ready for a big girl bed. I'm not sure there is much I can do... All I know is that I don't want her to succeed and fall out! She's a climber and is climbing on everything. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Re: She's trying to climb out of her crib

  • Sleep sack!  They make them with foot holes so they can walk, but I think it helps prevent them from climbing bc they can't get their foot all the way up.  BBB has the 2t ones on clearance right now for $5.

Also, if in the future your dd decides to undress and smear poop everywhere while "napping", you can just turn the sleep sack around and have her wear it backwards.  Problem solved.  Sadly, I know this one from experience.

ETA: Do not click on that link.  It is probably some virus.  I don't know how to make my linkies part of a word, so you'll never see it that way from me.

Ditto this! We started sleep sacks at 4mos of age roughly and she's now 2 and still wears one. She has never tried to climb out and I think the sack is the reason why....she can't get her leg up!  Honestly, I don't want to get rid of the sack-I'll be sad when she's in a regular bed and it has to go (and terrified of what bedtime will be like!)

  • Unless she suddenly keeps the blankets on, I don't think we will get rid of it.  We like our nights cold so she needs something.  Is there a reason we should get rid of it?  The kids on the package of the 2t ones are sitting in their beds, not their cribs.

I dont think you'd have to-I just couldnt imagine being that restrained while in bed and under the covers too!  Do most stores carry the ones with the footholes? DD is still in the footless ones (oops!) and she walks around ok in hers-of course she doesnt do much walking in it, but she is able to!

  • The Buy Buy Baby has them right now on clearance.  So I'm not sure if that means they wont be carrying them anymore or if they are just getting new styles or something for the fall.

But previously I bought it from amazon bc it was cheaper.

  • There are Early Walker Sleep Sacks that are Lg and Xl. I would get a lg for B. They are all long, so it will skirt around her legs and look too big. It isn't though.....you will see it fits well in the chest and arm holes.

They also sell mesh ones for summer, we love it! I had to order this one from Amazon. He can wear summer pjs and the mesh is like having a sheet over him. We keep our house cool, but not cold in the summer.

They also have the Big Kid ones which B3 sells, but they would be way too big for B. You need Early Walker. The Big Kids ones are 2T/3T or 4T/5T. I am not sure why they are so cheap at B3, maybe just getting a new pattern.

We call the sleep sack a "cozy", we switched to the one with foot holes once he walked...I feared bashed face/teeth in the crib if he tripped. His crib has a super low mattress, he can only get a leg up if the drop gate is down. Obviously it is only down when I get him in/out.'

    Good luck!

  • Thankyou!! I am going out today to buy some. I have some coupons from babies r us that I can use at either store. I wouldn't have thought of this. You guys rock!

  • Skip BRU, they don't sell them.....but yeah, you can use the coupon at B3. Even better is that they take more than 1 coupon per transaction (1 coupon per item) and BRU does not.

We should have used a cute name like this.  We just call it her sack.  "Ok, let's get in your sack"  haha
