Hi Ladies,
I don't post here very often but do read the board a lot. I just wanted to mention a funny thing that happened last week when visiting two friends who just had babies this month. One of the girls had another friend over who has two daughters a 12 month old and a 3 year old. Anyway I had put my DD in her ring sling in a hip carry because she was kinda clingy since she is teething and was in a new environment and it was just easier to carry her that way then costantly holding 26 lbs of toddler.
The other mom says "Oh wow my kids would never go for that they wouldn't like being that constrainted they are constantly moving and way too independant for that." I had to laugh because as she said it she had the 12 month old propped up on her hip in the exact same manner I had DD just without a sling to support her weight and most of the time we were there her daughter was in her arms trying to get her to hold her. All I said was "It seems weird at first but it works really well and you would be suprised how quickly they take to it once you try and your arms sure do appreciate the rest. Would you like to try it?" No big shock she declined. I just think it's funny because since I had my kid in a sling she acted like my DD was being a mommy's girl where as her kid was doing the exact same thing just sans sling.

she has some great ideas on 'flaunting your crunchiness" good job flaunting it keep it up!
Little Rose is 2 1/2.
I think it would be extra funny if you said that to a mom whose kid was in a stroller while your kid was fussing in the carrier...
Because that happens, too, you know.
How's the marriage going, btw?
This.
Love.
My kid wouldn't be worn. I would not have made some comment about independence but whenever I saw pictures on here of toddlers strapped to their mom's backs, I was amazed that their kid stayed. Mine wouldn't. No chance in hell.
But it isn't always easier to use a sling/wrap/carrier than a stroller/hip carry. Just FYI. Mom's know their kids best and use what is easiest for both. I'm not of the opinion that mothers need lectures on how to carry their children.
I agree. We use the Ergo some, but there are definitely times when DD2 wants to be held and then down to run around and then held again. I'd love to try a ring sling, but I can see how it might be more useful some times than others. I have a feeling taking her in and out of it would be more difficult than just holding her in my arms.
