she bf'ed for 15months and still wrote such a negative article?? or am i missing that this is supposed to be tongue and cheek??
I personally loved bf'ing and can't wait to do it again. pumping isn't fun by any means, but it's not the most horrible thing in the world. I don't understand why she said you have to spend all sorts of $$? by my calculations we saved over 1k by not using formula....we didn't pay a dime for bf'ing.

I agree. I had a tough time at first, we got thrush 5 times, clogged ducts one a week or so, I had a huge oversupply, etc. But I still wouldnt say it was as bad as she makes it out to be. When I read articles like that I just kind of shake my head and think 'Waah waah waah, you are a parent now, grow up'. Breastfeeding is a choice, if you choose to do it, dont complain about it.

I agree, formula is expansive!! Alot more expensive then a breast pump. The are also alot of resource out there to help women with bf that don't cost any money if you are having problems. I didn't bf my son and totally regret it! I know bf may be difficult at time, but it is something I am looking forward to. My best friend bf all 3 of her girls for over a year while she worked a 40+ job and pumped at work. I understand that it may why not be easy, but why would a women write an article that seems to discourage bf if she did it for so long???
Okay, after reading the responses first, I don't think I want to read the article. I'm a FTM and already anxious / nervous about breastfeeding. No need to cause additional stress.

I know it is not easy for everyone, but I also loved Bfing and never had any problems until I was pregnant and still BFing my 9 month old. I only had one clogged duct, very minor pain at first and DS knew just what he was doing from the moment he was born. I know my mom had the same experience. Pumping is a bummer but I was glad it was an option when I went back to work.
I am not sure if I was too unprepared or uncommitted but I did not do well at all breastfeeding my son. I think in some ways its good to know its hard. I thought it was harder for me than other people at the time (he had a poor sucking reflex), so it gave me the out I needed to quit. I know now that there are issues and it is hard work. Its a choice you make to get through that hard for the benefit of both mom and baby. I think I will be more successful this time bc I am going into it knowing that it can kindove suck (no pun intended) and its not going to be this easy wonderful perfect time. I did not LOVE it, I probably wont love it this time. I am just going to do it anyway.

Breastfeeding again is one thing that I'm super excited to do again! To experience breastfeeding a baby twice in one lifetime is such an abundance of blessings! I loved every minute of breastfeeding my DD. She latched right on. We perfected the latch within a week or two and I never had any infections, although I did have a blocked duct or two which I remedied very quickly before any problems could arise. I successfully extended breastfed my DD for 2 years and 5 months. I intend on giving my little guy the same head start in life.

I pretty much feel the same way! I am still BFing DD and I intend to tandem nurse with this LO. I absolutely love nursing and will be heartbroken when I close that chapter in my life.

I think that this is an honest account of the frustrations associated with breastfeeding. Thanks for sharing!
