Ears pierced?

Those of you with little girls, are you getting their ears pierced?  When are you going to do it?  I wanna get my DD's ears pierced before she's old enough to remember, but I'm not sure when the magic age is.  My SIL did it to both my nieces when they were like 3-4 months.  I don't know if I'm ready now.  Does it matter if I do it now, or when they are like 5-6 months?  Any suggestions would be helpful... thanks.

Re: Ears pierced?

  • I plan on doing it before she is 6 months old.
Her Pedi's office does it so I don't have to worry about location.
My brother waited til his girls got older (5 & 6 yrs) and when they were there they both completely freaked out and someone touching their ears.

  • I won't be piercing my daughter's ears until she is old enough to ask me, and even then I probably won't let her until she's at least in school.

I don't plan on doing it, but if I did, I'd find out what my pedi's rec was and have it done there if possible.

  • We just got Lo ears done this past week. She is 4 months. She cried when she got them done but I gave her a bottle right away and she stopped. She hasn't been fussy since and she has not even touched her ears yet.

  • We did LOs at 3 months. Our pedi doesn't do them in their office so, we went to a local jewelry store. I picked that location because they did both ears at the same time. She cried for like a minute, gave her a bottle and she was fine. Has not grabeed them or anything. I do hear that if you wait longer they start tugging at their ears, but I don't know what their definition of longer. I actually think it harder for the parents. Surprise GL!

  • We just did DD's a week ago- I insisted on finding a pedi to do it, since her;s doesn't, and that didn't work out. We ended up taking her to a piercing place in our local mall (her ped's office recommended this place) and they did a great job! DD barely even cried and has been doing great. She doesn't even know they are there. I LOVE her ears pierced!

  • like a PP said i'm against getting Addy's ears pierced until she can ask for it and take care of them herself but the bf wants them done like now. i stated my piece and will let him make the final decision.

we talked to the pedi about it. he does it in his office and she's had her 4 month shots so he said any place would be fine to get them done but he recommended waiting till about 6 months when their ears were a little bigger and you could really get an idea of the placement of the holes. he also said it would hurt for a minute but no more than the shots that she gets done in his office and she wouldn't remember anyway.

hope that helps you some! good luck

  • I am also planning to wait to get Coraline's ears pierced. I still remember how it felt being "old enough" to get mine done. I picked out my first pair of earrings and spend the day with my Mom at the mall. Don't want to take that moment away from her! :-)
