Chiropractor visits...is it helping anyone else?

I just started going to a chiropractor last week for the 1st time. It was amazing what he can do!!! I was sore in a couple places for a day but then felt much better. I think I am going to start having him adjust me and do ultrasound therapy on my back ever time now, it seems to help and it is supposed to help with pains obviously but the labor itself. I didn't know if any of you have been seeing one and your results?

  • I love my chiro!

I started off with low back pain at around 16 weeks.  Got a recommendation re: this chiro from a friend.  I went along not really expecting much but was/am amazed at the results.  I started off seeing her every week & then when my pain lessened every other week.  I am planning on seeing her up until the birth & perhaps after - we'll see what pregnancy has done to my alignment & posture!

  • Yup, my chiropractor keeps me sane. My massage therapist is also a God send. :)

  • I am jealous of you all.... I want to go to a chiropractor so bad. I wish I could afford it right now.

If you have insurance look into it to see if your plan covers or partially covers it!  After insurance I end up paying about $4 out of pocket every 2 weeks!

Oh yeah!! I started going about a month ago for hip and lower back pain. I go once a week, and I look forward to it every time!

  • I've been seeing mine since 26 weeks (now 37 weeks) for adjustments, heat therapy & stretching, and it has helped a lot in between sessions. I go weekly, and typically by the next week I'm a bit sore and ready to be seen again.  I work in a hospital and I'm on my feet all day though.

One thing to maybe question - my chiro. specifically told me that he would NOT perform ultrasound therapy while pregnant.  The frequencies they use are too high.  I understand it's going thru the back and not the belly, but.....I don't know.  Just wanted to bring up that thought.

  • I have been seeing a chiro for year, just for"maintenance".  I probably only go every 6 weeks or so. I have continued to see my current chiro (he has two children and adjusted his wife during both pregnancies) during this pregnancy and feel great.

Some months I have gone more than once, other times I have gone on my normal schedule.

I have found it especially helpful to keep my hips aligned as the relaxin kicked in. I have also been keeping up with my yoga practice and other workouts and find them to be complimentary.

  • I've gone twice a week for the last month and massage therapy every 2 weeks.  Before I started I was MISERABLE!!!  The first time i went i could barely walk back to the room from the waiting room.  I still have pain, but not as bad!  I plan to go back a day or two after i get home from the hospital to get everything back were it should be after delivery!

  • You should check with your insurance Co.  There may be some coverage under your plan.  I know ours pays for the first $1,500.  It is out of pocket after that.

I love my chiro too.  Don't know how I would survive w/out him.  We are actually breach right now and he has started the Webster Technique on me to get our Lil Girl to turn.  92% success rate.  Hope it works!

  • I have been visitng a chiropractor for over 2 years now. I would only go when I had pain or discomfort, but since I got pregnant I've been going twice a week.  The adjustments help my back pain tremendously and he even gave me some stretches to do daily to help with round ligament pain and side and back aches.  My sister is the office manager at his office, so I would have never thought a chiropractor could help during pregnancy unless she told me.

A lot of insurances over chiropractic.  You should check into it!

  • Oh good!! Thank you so much! I think it helps a lot but some people don't believe me lol I'm also a massage therapist and definitely recommend you to get prenatal massage as well as chiropractor :) Amazing!!! :) And I will ask him about the ultrasound therapy on my back...it felt so good but if its not good for the baby I might not do it as much :s Thanks for the input :)
