Orange County Babies

Orange Coast Memorial, anyone?

I had planned to give birth at Hoag but was notified this week that Hoag is no longer covered under my shittastic insurance plan. Thankfully, my OB also delivers at Orange Coast Memorial.

Does anyone have any experience at this hospital?

I can change insurance policies prior to giving birth but if I go that route, I'll probably end up changing my OB as well and delivering at the hospital that's 5 minutes from my house.

Any info is appreciated! TY!

Re: Orange Coast Memorial, anyone?

  • I am also delivering at Orange Coast Memorial and am excited about it! I was supposed to deliver at Fountain Valley and changed insurance and OB's to change hospitals.

I had surgery there about four years ago and my daughter had emergency surgery there 8 years ago. Both times I was impressed with the one on one attention we received and the calm environment. It is a small hospital so the staff is lessed stressed and rushed and take the time to answer your questions and attend to your needs. The hospital was also recently remodeled, it looks really nice on the outside, I cant wait to tour the inside!

  • I delivered my twins at Orange Coast three years ago, they were in the nicu, so I had a bit of a different experience, but I was happy with the hospital. The nurses in L&D and PP were great!

I delivered our third son at Hoag about a year ago, and honestly I like the nurses better at Orange Coast. Let me know if you have any other specific questions!

  • Depends on what you want.

Personally I love HOAG. Private rooms and DH got to stay. The nurses were great. I felt like I was being pampered.

Orange Coast, you share a room with another mom and your husband does not get to stay. Friends have delivered there and their experiences make me even happier I delivered at HOAG.

  • Orange Coast Memorial was my first choice because I live so close by... But I hear that they are really strict with their visiting rules. Is it really true they don't allow your spouse to stay the whole time with you? What, they kick him out if I am required to stay overnight? If that is the case then I will go to Hoag...
