Anyone else, not please with theirs?
Our NICU f/u clinic is also a clinic for other children with varing illnesses and over all I just don't like the set up of the place. I guess that realisticlly I thought that it would be more "sterile" and clean...it's definatly not. I don't just think its an issue for my vunerable preemies but also and issue for the other (and some times older adolesence) patients that have to be subject to all of this.
Not to mention the fact that the wait once we get there is rediciulous. Our first visit I waited (in the waiting room) for an hour and in the exam room for two hours...every so often someone would peek in and remind me that the doctor would be in "soon".
I always expect to "wait" when I got to see a doctor but 3 hours after my appt time with TWO or even ONE little one is exhausting for all parties involved.
I think after today's visit that the issue is more with one specific doctor (we saw two today and the first was on time and in and out) vs. the actual clinic wait time, but I am still less then pleased.
Our appt was at 10:45, I got back home at 3:30pm and the hosptial is only 20 minutes away!

Re: NICU f/u clinic
We don't have a follow up clinic, but yeah, that would piss me off too.
My OB was like that (waiting time) which I didn't mind this time because I would bring a book, but if I ever have to bring LO next time it will be a hot mess!
Yeah, I am not thrilled with ours either and I have never even been there. DH has taken the baby to both of his visits so far although I later followed up by phone. NICU f/u, IMO, should be multidisciplinary. Ours is down a neonatologist, and the speech pathologist has been out since Dec apparently. There is a PT who runs the clinic and she also has a MEd so also does the Bayley Scales. She is the only person LO has seen. I realize she in theory fulfills 2 disciplines but I still give that the side eye. I just feel like we are getting no new information or guidance from it. The clinic schedule is also such that it completely conflicts with my work schedule, and I refuse to take time off if does not benefit LO. I pretty much called them out at the last visit and said I would return not every 3 mo as they would like but only when then need to collect tracking data.
I am sorry you had that experience. I would be making some phone calls for sure.
Thankfully our clinic is a neonatal clinic only. Also, because the doctors who saw us were "Vent Clinic" doctors, they see us there instead of going to the regular neonatal clinic. We're lucky though. They usually only see patients on at-home ventilators. But, because they got to know him, they didn't want us to rehash his history with new doctors. I love them, they are awesome.
The eye clinic...well that's another story. Lots of kids, tons of kids wanting to touch Gabe, and a small very loud cramped waiting room. Appt was at 8:30, and they finally took my insurance info at 9:30. I was finally taken to a room at 10. Seen at 10:30. Go out of there at 11. It was a hot mess and I dread going back. Actually, I think H will have to take him next time because I will be back at work. And really, that's okay with me!
We'll miss you sweet Debbie Girl (4.21.12) and sweet Cindy Girl (8.9.12)

For all future appts we are trying two things, first being a different location...most of these docs have an office 5 minutes from my house rather then at "BIG U" 20 minutes away, so that's the first step and from what I understand they are "private" offices, as in each dr. has a seperate practice there rather then one big ol' office.
And we are aim for the first appt of the day...if said dr who makes us wait HOURS has this problem at the next follow up, we will be looking else where...
I am also going to speak to the practice manager.
