Seriously, though...My experience so far is that before you even hit the end of crying b/c they can't have what they want they start trying to negotiate with you, so it doesn't really end. It just changes.
DS is 21 months. He currently often either cries or laughs when I tell him no or to stop. Depends on whether he's testing boundaries or really wants something I don't want him to have/do. However, he also fairly often listens and doesn't mind when I redirect him or won't let him have something. A lot of the reaction depends on his mood.
