Hi ladies,
Thank for all the t&p's and hugs and kind words.
It's been one hell of a day (or couple weeks I guess). We went to a hospital I have never been to today, and it was TERRIBLE. I was there for 5 hours, in a waiting room 99% of that time, no one would answer any questions. They drew blood, and took a urine sample. When I finally saw the doctor he gave me a ;lecture that bleeding in pregnancy is either miscarriage or threatened miscarriage and there is nothing he can do to stop it. He then did an internal check (as I lay there sobbing after the heinous lecture), and told me it looks like there is no fresh blood, and my cervix was closed, so the bleeding had stopped. He then said he had to find out my RH factor (which they forgot to do in the original bloodwork so I had to wait another HOUR), I'm RH- so I had to get a rhogam shot. I have an appointment for an ultrasound tomorrow at noon to get some real answers. THe only issue is that this ultrasound appointment is at this horrible hospital, where I will need to wait in emergency for a doctor to have time to go over the results with me (judging by today's wait, I won't have answers for a good long while).
Just an example of how HORRENDOUS this hospital is: There was an elderly lady in a wheelchair in the waiting room who asked a nurse for assistance to use the bathroom, the nurse blew her off, said she's be back soon. 25 minutes later the elderly woman was crying, and asked a stranger to please help her use the bathroom as she couldn't wait any longer. THAT is the kind of hospital this was. It was pretty much third world. I was disgusted.
It was the worst 5 hours of my life, and really we know nothing right now. I've just gotta hope that the ultrasound tomorrow shows a heartbeat, and a healthy baby. I will update when I have real news. Thanks for all the support tonight.
Re: A non-update Update (to headed to the hospital)
I'm so sorry you had such a horrible, scary day and didn't get any answers. I'm glad the bleeding seems to have stopped and your cervix is closed. Those are definitely good signs.
Sending lots of T&Ps for the u/s tomorrow. Please keep us updated.

OMG that sounds horrible. I am so sorry you had to experience that on top of everything else you were already dealing with today. I hope that they are able to give you some more solid answers tomorrow and I will be keeping you and LO in my thoughts and prayers that everything turns out okay. (((HUGS)))
My goodness that's awful. I am sorry you have to go there. I hope tomorrow isn't too horrible and you can get some answers soon.
God, what a horrible experience! I am so sorry you had to go through that. How a hospital like that stays in business, you have to wonder...
I hope you get some positive answers tomorrow. The doctor is not entirely accurate for telling you that bleeding always = miscarriage, as I am sure you already know. What a jerk. I hope tomorrow you get some better news. Is there another hospital nearby you can go to? Surely that can't be the only one in your area!
Prayers for you...
We went to this hospital because it is about 5 minutes from home. usually we drive the 45 minutes back to my home town for doctor/hospital (we will be moving back to home town after our wedding in October, so I will, Lord willing, deliver there)... but given the situation, and the fact that I took it seriously, we went to the close hospital. In retrospect, we could have driven to my home town, seen a decent doctor who would take me seriously and I probably could have had the travelling, blood test, ultrasound, and follow up done in the amount of time I spent waiting to see the triage nurse at this horrible place.
Sadly I need to go back tomorrow, because that's where my ultrasound is. I have looked up how to file a formal complaint against the hospital, which I will for sure be doing. Not just for my experience, but all the experiences I saw people having with the staff there tonight. It was disgraceful. Canada is known for great health care, and I was truley shocked and ashamed at what I saw tonight. so not good.
I'm sorry that your experience was so bad. I know exactly how you feel. I went to the closest hospital when I was bleeding and had to wait hours for an exam by a regular dr - not an OB (for which I was propped up on a bed pan) and then even longer for an u/s and they would not let DH come with me. As if the experience alone could have been any worse, the hospital made it that way.
The closed cervix and old blood is excellent news. I hope you have good news to share today. I'll be thinking of you!
