Clothes from the attic

I just got done sorting through some of Justin's clothes into "give to B" or "consign" piles and I'm a wreck so I gotta ramble to people who understand.

We all know "it goes so fast" but I can't believe the memories/attachment some of these clothes have. I swear to God, I had like Hallmark movie moment flashbacks in my head. I could look at an outfit and remember him in it 2-2.5 yrs ago as a tiny baby with a big gummy smile. I can't even remember what I ate for lunch yesterday but I can remember so many awesome moments holding him in those little clothes. It has 100% changed the way I feel about hand me downs. I felt so bad that B hardly gets new clothes but his are so special to me. I can't wait for little brother to wear what Justin wore to meet Mickey or the 1st time he crawled... ugh... I'm such a sap.

Re: Clothes from the attic

  • i did that a few months ago.  i decided to keep a few outfits and will make a quilt out of his clothes for his highschool graduation.  i've seen them before and they are so nice.

how did you sign up for the sale? i really need to get rid of stuff and have some extra $

  • i totally know what you mean. I am really lucky cuz Natalie is WAAAY bigger than Eve was at this age, so she can wear all of Eve's summer 3 month clothes (that Eve wore from like 3-6 months). When I first pulled the stuff out of the attic before N was born, some of them looked kind of dingy and worn and I wasn't thrilled about baby girl not getting a bunch of new stuff.. but now that Natalie is here, i LOVE putting her in Eve's old stuff.

Yep I'm just volunteering for 1 shift. The fairgrounds are like 5 mins from my house so it won't be so bad. I just signed up online for a consigner # and I've been entering all the stuff online 1 box at a time from the attic. It was really hard and sentimental boxing things up but I'm promising myself a new camera with the money.

  • how did you pay? i can't figure it out.  i was going to put you done as the referral just in case you found another person so you would get the extra $
  • Aww thanks! I already had a paypal acct from shopping on ebay so I paid using that.

  • Oh yeah and I volunteered to "take in inventory" on 8/25 from 1-5 but I don't even see that shift offered anymore. Lame. It might have been more fun if I knew someone there. You're going to Melissa's Thursday right? I have to dust off the box that says "Julie's clothes" (Sophia's nb stuff) and bring them with me.

  • When we found out this baby was a girl and I went through Gavin's clothes, I was a wreck!  It took me a few times of sorting to actually get the pile of 'keep clothes' down to a good size.  I wanted to keep so much!  It's so hard to get rid of those things!  Good luck at your sale.
  • Awww....it's very sad!!  I keep trying to convince my dh we should have one more, but I'm losing :o(
