I was loving on Veda -- but DH pointed out it sounds a lot like Vadar (as in Darth) so I landed on Vida as a compromise idea. I like that it means life and hopefully the Ricky Martin song will be a faded memory in a few years... But when she's acting crazy we could sing it!

It's Spanish for "life." Hence, la vida loca. I wouldn't use it for a name.

I really like Vida. It is Spanish and the meaning is beautiful. I like it better than Veda. Mathew McConaghey and Camilla Alves named their little girl Vida and she is a little beauty!

No. Vida is pronounced Vee-dah. It was a pretty common name in the 50's and 60's actually.

Maybe I'm alone here, but I pronounce it Vy-da? Not a fan regardless of how it's pronounced. But Vy-da reminds me of a movie or tv show that I can't remember and it's driving me nuts!!

It finally came to me! The movie Sliver had a character named Vida (pronounced Vy-da but spelled Vida). Ugh it was literally making me crazy.
