Pregnant after IF

XP: Kidney stones anyone?

So I think that is probably what I am having.  I have pain above my rt. butt cheek in my lower back area. It's not siatic cause I know what that feels like.  Pain is constant and doesn't ever go away.  I called my Dr. and he said to drink a lot of fluids and if the pain gets worse go to L&D.  At this point I dont know how the pain could get any worse.  Anyone have experience with this and what did you do?  Thanks

Re: XP: Kidney stones anyone?

  • I had pain more concentrated in the lower front of my abdomen and sides with occasional mid back pain.

I've never had any kidney stones before becoming pregnant but now I have two (last we checked) in my right kidney.

The only way to know for sure if for them to do an ultrasound if you are preggo-- and keep in mind the first genius to do my scan missed them completely.  It wasn't until the second and third scan that they found one and then the second.

Unfortunately, to be honest, if it IS kidney stones, there's nothing they can do for you while preggo other than tell you to take some vicodin-- which I still have not allowed myself to do.  From my MANY ER visits, that's what they say each time.

However, having other possibilities ruled out would be a good idea.

     GL!

    I literally, feel your pain.

  • I had a kidney stone at 12 weeks and passed it within a day from first feeling the pain.  The pain would come and go in the beginning but as time went on it was constant until I passed it.  The pain was so intense I had to go to the ER.

I had pain like your describing at 35 weeks and I was told it was a UTI and possibly another kidney stone (but I think it was more like a kidney infection since I never passed a stone).  The infection caused me to start having contractions so I went to L&D.  If the pain doesn't go away with Tylenol I would head to L&D like your Dr. advised.  If it's that painful I would definitely go in.  Better to be safe!
