Co-sleeping moms- need advice please!

DD started to crawl a few weeks ago and we put her in our bed to take naps too.  We have been building a HUGE fort around her in the bed with king size pillows and blankets and have a video/sound monitor in there with her.  But I just know she is going to get over those pillows one day!  We put her in her crib for a while for naps, but something was wrong (they are getting fixed as we speak)  with our air ducts and her room got to hot.  Now I don't think she will go back to crib.  What do you guys do for naps?  TIA!

  • We transitioned to the crib for naps at this point. I ended up having to Ferberize for naps because she would just sit up/pull up and scream. I couldn't lay her in there at all. It is not safe to leave them on the bed, even with a rail.

  • We started doing crib for naps the day I walked in and barely caught DD as she was about to push herself over a pillow and off the bed (1 more push would have done it). This was a few months ago, and before she was actually crawling but was scooting very well. I couldn't imagine her letting her use our bed for naps now, since she wakes up and crawls and plays around now. It definitely was a transition. I would do her morning nap with her in our bed, and put her down for her afternoon nap in the crib- her room gets very hot as well. Slowly I started putting her down for both naps in her crib.

  • If you can't put her in her crib because of the temp use a pack n play or just put her on the floor in the living room...we have had to do all of these things. Our Lo co sleeps for just a few hours a day. But she sleeps 10+ hours of the night in her crib and takes naps there also. If the room is too hot I use her pack n play in the living room or I just put her on the floor in the living room once she falls asleep. It has worked so far. Oh...and when we transitioned to the crib we used dad's tee shirt as a blanket...it worked.
  • This is exactly the reason that we're transitioning to the crib from the bed. Ever since D began to crawl I've been worried he's going to crawl right off the edge while we're sleeping. It's a sad time for me but he needs to be safe more than he needs to sleep with mama Sad

We've always used his rocker for naps, but unfortunately he will outgrow it very soon and will need to start napping in his crib.

Sorry, no help...BUT........Can you elaborate on this? We are having the same issue!    What did you do to fix? How much did it cost? Our A/C is fine everywhere in the house except LO's room.

  • We had a nap mat that we had on the floor, so no issues with him falling.

  • Ben's mom- sorry it took me so long to reply- the duct thing ended up being WAY worse than expected!  To make it short, we had mold and had to move to a hotel right away until they fixed it.  But to answer your questions- our air ducts were the original with the house (built in the 50's) and there were some holes in them.  The ducts themself cost $2000, but we also added a new duct and a/c hole in a closet we added, so it would probably be less!  We don't have insulation yet (he comes Wed) so it isn't cooled down completely yet, so I'm not sure if it worked, but I will let you know!
