I know not everyone wants to discuss weight gain, but I am actually proud that I am getting much more used to the idea of getting bigger and bigger.
so, if you want to talk or compare or just see others progress - join in. There is no judgement (well, we cant prevent silent judgements)
start with me.
how far along are you?
26 weeks
starting weight = 132 lbs
current weight = 152 lbs
any complaints/concerns?
- my feet are so swollen and hurt a lot from standing all day and supporting the extra 20lbs.

Re: weight gain Monday (come in if you want to talk)
Starting weight: 117lb
Weight at 28w: 135lb
Complaints: HEARTBURN. Gah, it needs to stop!
how far along are you?
29 weeks
starting weight = 125 lbs
current weight = 145 lbs
any complaints/concerns?
At the OB's office, the nurse weighed me and I had gained 7lbs, she gasped at the scale. Then she looked at my file and saw I gained 8lbs last month. She looked at me and said, you are gaining too much weight, I don't know what you're eating, but you need to stop. My mother, who was with me said, everyone looks at Liz and tells her how tiny she is. Well, this nurse looks me up and down, sneers and says, you're not tiny (I'm 5'5" and all of the weight is in my belly and boobs). I had an eating disorder in high school and it never really leaves you, so I was extremely upset with the entire exchange. Needless to say, my therapist was boiling when I told her, she talked me off the ledge and she said she's calling the office and I will never have to see that nurse again.
I can't believe that nurse said that to you! i'm sorry. Don't let her one comment get to you. i gained 7lbs at my last appt. too. Some people just gain more than others. For example w/ DS # 1 i didn't exercise at all. With this LO i've been exercising about 4-5x's a week and have gained the exact same amount of weight at the same exact times. So i really believe your body is going to gain what it needs. Of course there are exceptions to this and some people do indulge alittle too much into that ice cream container. LOL
I've gained 25lbs so far at 29wks.
how far along are you?
almost 29 weeks
starting weight = 100 lbs
current weight = 117 lbs
any complaints/concerns?I feel as though I am an experienced horse rider, my feet hurt from cleaning my house (seriously) and the acid reflux will not go away 24/7 yummy
and sounds to me like you have had several weeks of no weight gain. You had to catch up sooner or later.
and I agree with your Mom. she knows you better. I am glad you had her there.
Last weekend, my Mom's neighbour said to me "you dont have long to go, right? just a few weeks?" I laughed "try 3 months"
People need to keep their judgements to themselves.
Also, weight related. when I was at 145 my Mom bragged to my sister that she weighed less than me. My sister was cracking up.
how far along are you?
25 weeks
starting weight = 165 lbs
current weight = 176 lbs
any complaints/concerns? not really....I'm feeling good, and loving my belly. I thought I would be one of those ladies that just swelled up as soon as I got pregnant, so I'm glad to see that doesn't seem to be the case, so far. We'll see what the next 3 months brings, though!
how far along are you?
26 weeks
starting weight = 152 lbs
current weight = 168 lbs
complaints: nothing major, other than I'm a wuss with shots/blood draws and I've had to deal with that a lot this past week.
To PP: I can't believe the nurse said that to you!!! Regular people drive me batty enough with their lack of filter when it comes to weight on a pregnant woman... but someone whose JOB it is to deal with pregnant ladies all day? I'm seriously shocked she was so rude!! Like someone else says, I think you're body gains what it needs when it needs it, no one is going to be the "textbook" case on weight gain!
I seriously want to tell people, you don't comment on a non-pregnant woman's weight, why do you think it's okay now?
how far along are you? 26 weeks and change
starting weight = 120-123 pounds, approximately.
current weight = 135 this morning and 137 this afternoon. 138 two nights ago. I dunno what to say any more about my weight. It bounces as much during pregnancy as when I wasn't pregnant.
any complaints/concerns? I'm carrying all in front, so I have a lot of back discomfort. Occasionally, I can't sleep b/c of BH contractions. I'm peeing a lot during the night as well. I'm getting sleepy!!! haha

I was never diagnosed with an eating disorder, but in high school I counted calories and refused to eat most meals. I know where you're coming from. It's tough seeing the scale go up, but during pregnancy it seems like it's one of the few times in life where you don't have to stress about gaining weight. It's freedom! I'm sorry for your experience and I'm glad your therapist is your advocate! Isn't the eating disorder in your charts? Hare dare this nurse be so nasty!!!

how far along are you? 28 weeks
starting weight = 163 lbs
current weight = 185 lbs
any complaints/concerns? Not really, feeling good, thankfully.
My dr said because I am tall I might gain more weight, closer to 30-35lbs. Looks like I am heading in that direction. Right now though it's mostly belly and boobs.
dont worry about it. To me and my sister it proves that my Mom is the one with the body image issue. Bragging about being lighterr than your pregnant daughter? so many things wrong with that. My sister and I were laughing forever.
I can't belive a nurse would say this! I have dealt with ED for 15 years (since I was 8) so I get on the scale backwards at the OBs office and they don't say a word about my weight...as long as the LOs are growing.
Good for you holding out and talking it through with your therapist instead of just reverting to bad habits--that definately shows you've gotten a control on your ED.
What an evil wench. You are still well within the "recommended" weight gain- and even if you weren't, how incredibly unprofessional of the nurse.
-I'm 27 weeks along
Starting weight- 129
Current weight- 148
No real complaints or concerns- my back is starting to hurt a bit and I'm assuming it's going to get worse as the pounds continue to pile on
27 weeks
starting weight: 153
current weight: 172
Im up 19lbs...hadnt gained much until my last doc apt...gained 6lbs in 2 weeks! I am watching what I eat and drinking mostly water...so I dont know what happened! We were on vacation and eating out (which we NEVER do) so hopefully now that we're home the weight gain will slow down! Im okay though..my doctor didnt even mention my weight..I brought it up! He's very laid back though...
27 weeks
starting weight = 100 lbs
current weight = 115 lbs
My back pain is coming and going, and the heartburn is getting worse. I have been on zantac 150mg twice a day and now have to supplement with tums. I don't know if zantac is going to be enough the further along I get!
30 weeks and 2 days.
Starting weight: 115lbs
Current weight: 135lbs
Concerns:
My doctor was concerned by how much weight I gained from the last appointment. Not in the "you are eating too much", but because of others things like fluid retention and pre-e. He told me at an early appointment that he expects that I would gain 35-40 lbs based on my starting weight.
You seem on track for your weight. What a horrible thing for her to say.
26 Weeks
Starting Weight: 167
Current Weight: 175
Concerns: I worry that I'm not gaining enough, but my doctor hasn't said anything to me. I know she didn't want me to gain too much since I was already "above the average" to begin with, so maybe I'm right on track. (??)
All the weight is in my belly and boobs and I've actually LOST weight everywhere else. My rings, watch and some of my shoes are too big now!
gah, i could've written this myself. i'm 5'3", started at about 135, am now about 160, and am 27 weeks. like you said, the vast majority of my gain has been boobs and belly. granted, i could tone up a little and eat a little more healthy, but i'm still within the healthy weight gain range. and i was anorexic in high school and my doctor told me i am putting my baby at risk for childhood diabetes and obesity. i'm sorry, last i checked, i'm nowhere near gaining 60, 70, 80 lbs. so glad i won't be seeing this doctor again!
and i think at my next appt, which is next week, i'm gonna ask to start getting on the scale backwards so i don't see my weight. it's really starting to take its toll, seeing that number. i'll just ask that they tell me if i'm good or need to start watching myself.
how far along? 29 weeks and change
starting weight: 140
current weight: 141
major complaint: I am still having morning sickness. I have random fainting episodes and the docs cannot find out why. AND I start getting really uncomfortable. Plus, I am still not very big and EVERYBODY feels the need to comment on it. Well, you try to puke all day every day AND gain weight, and see how that's going for you. Grrr. Vent over. Next time, I am laying an egg.
Thank you girls so much for your support. I had a few rough days between my OB and my therapist where I felt really bad about myself and had a tough time eating, but I remembered that i had a baby I had to take care of!
I'm ok with the 20lbs, it was the nurses comments that got me. And even before I got pregnant I was worried and still am about the post-baby diet, I seem to not be good with moderation, I tend to go to extremes.
Sleepingbeauty, I can't believe your Dr said that to you, I'm glad for your sake you aren't seeing them again. I definitely think getting on the scale backwards can be a really good option.
RKTO, I can't believe your mother!
27 weeks, 1 day
Starting weight: 224
Current Weight: 219
I actually used to be really small and after a personal tragedy I put on a ton of weight. Before getting pregnant I would try everything to lose the weight and nothing would work. Now that I am pregnant I seem to be losing weight in other places and gaining it in my stomach area. My doctor hasn't mentioned anything weight related to me so I am just going with the flow for now.
How far along are you? 29 weeks, 1 day

Any complaints/concerns? My feet and back are pretty sore, and I'm not sleeping very well these days.
