Who here takes medication for anxiety?

I have been having horrible panic attacks lately and my anxiety level is through the roof right now with all the stress I'm under. My doctor prescribed me a low dose of Xanax, but I dont' want to be out of it.

    I do. I took Paxil before and it helped but when we started to TTC #2 they switched me to prozac.  It helps me immensely with OCD and anxiety and I don't ever feel out of it.  But different meds work differently for different people.

    I take buspar daily it really helps and doesnt have me out of it.

    Paxil made me all sorts of loopy.  Zoloft was a lifesaver.

    If you're really anxious, Xanax shouldn't make you "out of it."  I take .25 when I am having an attack and I don't 'feel' anything but less anxious. However, back in the day, I used to take Paxil with it and it helped.

    She prescribed me the .25. My other concern is that I really like my wine. I can't me a wino and on Xanax.

    I was given Xanax, but it put me out. It did keep me from getting a panic attack, it also made me not capable of doing much of anything but take a nap.

    Anxiety and depression often go together, so if you treat one, you end up treating the other. I was on prozac and that treated both for me. I weaned off of it during first tri, but I'll probably get back on it as soon as I have the baby, since it's all coming back and I really want to be treated, and with PPD mixed in it's not going to be fun.

    Me. I take zoloft since I'm nursing but when I'm not pg or nursing I'm usually on Paxil. I've had anxiety and depression issues since I was a teenager. Meds and therapy are a god send.

    I take celexa and it's the only medication that has truly made me feel better without feeling totally numb.

    Zoloft and wellbutrin did not work for me.

    I take Cymbalta and Xanax. I'm allowed 1 mg up to 3 times a day (that probably sounds like a lot, but I have crazy horrible anxiety.) I really only take one Xanax at night when I take the majority of my other medications. When I do take it in the day, I'm not out of it-I'm just a lot more calm. I know Xanax doesn't work for everyone, but I would give it a try. There are other benzo's/ you could take (like klonopin, valium, etc) or other anti-anxiety pills if Xanax doesn't work for you.

    Xanax is a wonderful drug. I think with a dosage of .25 you'll be fine. Not out of it, but maybe a little sleepy. Maybe. When struggling with panic attacks, it's a lifesaver.
