Very unreassuring first u/s

I've been having brown spotting for about a week now (isn't constant, is pretty light mostly, but have had a couple of darker times). I went in for blood work on Weds/Friday, and it didn't nearly double (but is about 6k and 8k, so possibly okay). Went in for an u/s to check and see how things are going.

The good news, there actually IS something there this time. Last time I had a BO and the 5w6d scan showed an empty gestational sac. A yolk sac did develop at 7 weeks, but they're still calling it a BO since a fetal pole never developed. So there was a yolk sac and a 2mm fetal pole, still no hb. They said that it looks to be 5.5-6 weeks along, and that might coincide with my possible O date being 3 days later, but still, it would have been much nicer to have a normal pregnancy for once.

Checking blood again today and Wednesday. She also prescribed Prometrium, which is more reassuring than last time where they weren't interested in doing that. I have another follow up u/s next Wednesday afternoon, and just keeping my fingers crossed until then.

If it weren't for this darned spotting, I'd still be able to convince myself that everything was totally okay. And I guess it still might be, but I'm pretty much bracing myself for the worst. Sorry for the novel, here's a donut for you:

((((Hugs)))) It sounds like you're just a bit earlier along than you thought. Hopefully the u/s next week and the blood work this week will show that everything's going along great, just with different dates. Hang in there.

The waiting in between u/s is so horrible, I'm so sorry. Sounds like they are at least being proactive with starting you on the prometrium. Will be sending lots of positive thoughts to your little bean.

I'm so sorry you are going through all this. It might still be too early, a few days can make a big difference in your LO's development! Glad your Dr is giving you prometrium and following your betas, though. I hope your spotting stop and you get wonderful news on your next u/s!! Big big (((hugs)))

I'm sorry you are in limbo, but it sounds like you could still be ok. The couldn't see anything at my first u/s at 5w1d (I thought I was 5w4d) and 2 weeks later we saw the HB. Hang in there, I know it is hard.

Girl, don't you worry about the novel (although now you've made me really want some chocolate!)...you are expressing your concerns in a very safe environment. We are all here for you.

I am sorry that the appointment still leaves you in a strange time of waiting and worrying. It does sound like they are doing their best to be pro-active about this pregnancy, prescribing prometrium is good I think. I am praying for you and your little one, hope that they see a heart beat at the next appointment and that your LO continues to grow and develop as he/she should. (((hugs)))

Oh, sweetie! Waiting is the worst. I'm really hoping that it is just a little early. At this stage a matter of hours could make a huge difference. I had my first u/s somewhere between 5 and 5.5 weeks and we just saw a gestational sac. A week later we saw LO's heart beating away. Sending lots of T&Ps that the same happens for you.

Limbo sucks but it's a good sign that things still seem to be developing. You just could have been a few days too early for a hb. FX that you get good news soon!

And dating myself at 6w2d, and am going to chill the hell out until next week. I really am not super patient, if it weren't for the spotting I would have been resting pretty easy until my first u/s.

Maybe I should take up knitting in the meantime, grr. (Or actually doing my work??)

I am sorry that you had such a frustrating appointment. Just an FYI- I have been having brown spotting as well and just spoke to my nurse. She said that they are not concerned with brown blood because that means old blood. Hope that helps with the reassurance a little (although I know that nothing really helps!)

Thanks dearie (and of course to everyone else). No u/s until the 3rd, doing betas only. I'm trying to not cry that they doubled in 5 days (today came back at 12759, and it was 5914 last Wednesday) and trying to actually get some work done, but the truth is I'm just kinda only thinking about the viability.

I thought the 2ww was bad, egads.

I'm hoping you're just O'd a little later than you think. Hopefully you can get answers as to what's going on, but I wouldn't count yourself out yet. I was measuring a few days behind my LMP date at my first u/s (matched perfect with O date) and also had spotting early on (see chart).

That's awful that you're still in limbo, it's so hard not knowing. I hope you get good news next week, and find some peace and calm while you're waiting, that's so difficult.

I'm sorry that you're in this limbo stage. Like you, I've been having spotting for about a week now and it's so hard to be optimistic when every time you wipe it's such a crushing blow. I really am praying things work out for you and your LO. (((hugs)))
