Re: Monitors?
we are getting the angelcare monitors b/c i am freaked out about SIDS.
we are also buying video cameras that we can monitor from our iphones and computers (anywhere we are, basically) for the nursery. the cameras are wireless and have night vision.
they aren't marketed as baby monitors, but my H is really good with techy stuff, found these and they work great (we've tested them on our dog
). if you are interested, LMK and i'll ask him to send me a link to the cameras.
We got the same and the Angelcare monitors too.
You're buying the Angelcare motion monitor then?
We both have iPhones and an iPad so if we could set up video cameras as well that would be great. My DH is pretty good at that stuff. If you could send me the link to the cameras that would be great.

FWIW:
Baby Bargains gives Angelcare an F based on the American Academy of Pediatrics' position that movement monitors like Angelcare do not reduce the risk of SIDS.
For audio monitors, they recommend the Sony BabyCall or the Philips Avent SCD510 (if you want DECT technology). For video monitors, they recommend Summer's Day and Night Handheld Color Video Monitor or Summer's Best View Handheld Color Video Monitor (bigger LCD screen and pan/tilt/zoom feature but more expensive).

This is a big debate in our house right now. We like the idea of a video monitor, but G thinks he can rig something up and we can just get a high quality voice monitor.
I'm also worried that the video / movement monitors will just make me even more anxious, and as I told G, I don't plan on letting this baby out of my eyesight for one minute anyways for at least 5 years so video functionality is redundant!!! I don't care if I have to have coffee inserted via IV line, I plan on staring at her A LOT.
