Anyone else having severe round ligament pains?

I am 36w and just started to experience severe round ligament pain.  By severe, I mean stabbing pains in my lower left abdomen down over my girly bits.  It happens when walking, moving from seated position to standing, and also at night when I roll over in bed.  Nothing seems to help except to sit or lay without moving - I've tried Tylenol and hot baths.  I have a pretty high tolerance for pain and this is truly unbearable.  Unfortunately I can just sit around and relax, I am still working at my job.

Anyone else experiencing this?  Did you find anything to help deal with the pains?

  • I, too, would love some advice. Mine's on the right side and only a little bit on the left. This sucks! Thankfully pregnancy is temporary!

  • Yes!  I went to the doctor about it and found out I was very dehydrated (even though I drink water all the time).  Since then I've felt much better, but I'm still slow.
  • I get them when I roll over in bed at night. Not fun!! The only thing that helps me is taking a few deep breaths and focusing on relaxing.
  • Yes, I've had terrible sharp pains for weeks now. They're the worst at night in bed, or for some reason if I turn a certain way to get in my car.

Anyway, my doctor suggest 500mg of Calcium and Magnesium together once a day and it's made such a huge difference!

They were waking me up 3 or 4 times a night, and they're not anymore. Maybe ask your Dr. if you could try it? I told him it worked and I was thrilled! :)

  • I get these plus really bad low (really low) back pain. The doctor said because I was carrying low and hadn't really gained any weight anywhere but my front, I might want to try a maternity belt. I did on Saturday morning for a while and Sunday when DH and I went for a walk. It helped, but was kind of uncomfortable. Just taking the weight off my ligaments and nerves for a hour or so seemed to have made it a lot more manageable. A friend gave me two different types to try, I've only tried the under the belly, but I might give the over/under belly one a try tonight to see if it's more comfortable.

  • I've been dealing with this since week 20 and it sucks.  I usually put a heating pad on my back and either an ice pack or hot rice sock where I'm having the pain in the front.  I just hope mentally I can hang on until the end because this is truly draining.

  • I started getting them about 3 weeks ago, I think (HOPE) they have passed though. They were so bad I'd get dizzy, have to lay down and just breathe through it. Just take it as a sign to slow down a few minutes, drink water, and if necessary have a good cry!
