3rd Trimester

Anyone's LO flip from breech after 37 weeks?

Just looking for some hope - starting to get discouraged.  Had a vaginal birth with my first son and really don't want surgery this time.  I've tried spinning babies inversions (though they are too uncomfortable to do now), moxibustion, Webster (still going), and warm baths with ice where his head is.  Has anyone had their baby flip at or after week 37?

  • Are you going to try an external cephalic version?  My DS was breech the entire time and I tried the version, didn't work - but the success rate is suppose to be much higher for women that have already had babies!

  • My baby was breech like my whole pregnancy and she never did flip.  I even tried the exercises.  I did not get an external version I just did not feel it was for me even though I did not want surgery either.  I had to have the C-section.  However, my cousins baby was breech right up until delivery.  As she was in labor that was when the baby decided to flip.  So I guess it can happen even up until the very end.  I also read to try holding music up to the bottom of your stomach.  Someone said the baby may turn in trying to hear the music.  Good luck hope your LO turns.

I responded to your post over there. I had an ECV done at 37 weeks and it was successful! I delivered vaginally at 41+ weeks. She really stayed in there after she got all comfy and in the right position!!haha

I'd be happy to share my whole experience with it. It was really not that big of a deal, esp in comparison to having a c-section. I just needed to know that I tried everything I could to have her naturally. Lucky for me, it worked!

PP is right, there's a higher success rate for 2nd+ children, and even higher yet if you have an epidural when you have it done.

  • Great question, I am in the same boat. Last week Dr. told me it was best to schedule a c-section due to baby being breech and some worries of pre eclampsia. The opinion she gave me was that manually trying to move the baby is very uncomfortable, and does not have a real high success rate. I will give you the same pep talk I have been giving myself in the last couple of days -even though this may not have been how I envisioned bringing baby into the world, I will do what it takes for it and I to be healthy!
