Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

anyone have kidkraft toddler table & chairs (or other set you'd recommend)?

just curious...i like how it looks online and the reviews for it seem to be overall good but my biggest issue with the table & chairs is that I want easy to clean, like if they draw with markers on it, will it come off??? I can't find that info on any of the sites. Maybe I'm asking too much for any toddler table & chairs. I know our plastic picnic table on the porch cleans really easily (crayon, etc, haven't used markers out there) and I'm just wondering if the wood kind will be as forgiving esp b/c I would want  to potentially use it for arts/crafts as well as eating. I don't want another hunk of plastic in the house, we've got quite enough already...thanks!

  • I have a lime green table and stools from IKEA. We love it! DS gets crayon all over the table when he colors and I just use a magic eraser to get it all off. It is very sturdy. DH and I can even sit on the stools w/o any problems.

  • I have 1. The first time I bought a slightly bigger wood set. It blew. I ended up having to get 3 different ones because there was something broken in all of them - usually the table. After the 3rd (still broken) one I gave up. That set was too tall anyway. I got a slightly smaller painted set that I believe is also Kidkraft. I got it at BRU. The table is white and each chair a different color. I *love* that set. DS has drawn all over it, spilled food that I forgot to clean up, and even gotten fingerpaint all over it. It wiped right off. Not quite as pretty as the original set but it has taken quite a beating and still looks new.

Oops. Looks like I was wrong. The set I have that works is by Tot Tutors.

  • I have the Kidkraft one.  The quality is awful. The wood is soft and hollow and gets tons of nicks and dents with just regular everyday use and the paint finish chips off very easily.  I bought it for my son for Xmas and by the beginning of February it looked like a 10 year old piece of junk I picked up on the side of the curb.
  • We have a white one from Crate and Barrel with a chalkboard on top that lifts up and you can store stuff (art supplies?) in the table. Love it!

  • We have a set from Potter Barn Kids. Quality is very good. We wanted something to match DD's kitchen set (also PBK). Crayon/pencil/pen markings clean up easily with a magic eraser. A litle pricey (the one we bought only came with 2 chairs, we we had to buy the others separately, but very cute and good quality!

  • We have this KidKraft set and love it. DS got it for Christmas last year and I was very pleased with how sturdy it is. DH and I sit on it all the time with DS. There are a few knicks in the table top from DS banging his wooden puzzle pieces on it but I don't think it's a big deal. I wanted this set because it would match our living room decor and was small enough for DS until he gets a little older. At $120 I just want it to last about 3 years at which time we will get a larger table.
