2nd Trimester

14 weeks and can't fit into any of my pants..anyone else?

I am usually 110lbs and have gained 10lbs already..doctor said it was just because I was very thin before and am now eating 'normally' I am still working out 5 times a week but can't fit into any kind of pants that arent stretchy!

My butt and hips have already gotten bigger and i can't even pull the pants over my thighs!

Is it time to buy maternity pants already? I just started a job where I have to wear slacks...this is so annoying! I can't spent a lot on my clothing but I don't have a uniform..how do you get through this? 5 pair for 5 work days?

  • This was me! I was wearing maternity pants at the 14 week mark. I'm a FTM and was not expecting to show so early!

As for work pants, I bought 3 great maternity pairs and just rotated them throughout the week :)

  • I haven't gained an actual pound (m/s was terrible), but I have been in maternity clothes since week 9. (Normally a size 12). I can't even zip up my pants anymore, let alone button them. I look 16-18 wks pg already. I was freaking out until my mom finally informed me she ws showing extremely early too. Apparently, it's in the genes.

  • I didn't buy maternity pants as I thought they were way over priced. I went to Marshalls and TJMaxx and bought stretchy black yoga pants, one for each day of the week at $10 a peice. When they got too tight on my belly, I rolled them down so they sat below my belly. The best part is that they still fit me after my DD was born, so I was able to wear them for more than just those 9 months.

  • I never bought maternity clothes with DS. I was able to fit all of my clothes until I was about 7 1/2-8 months. and then I just went a size up in jeans(was an 11 got 13s) and those fit all the way to 42 weeks. This time around I still dont want to buy maternity but my bump is way bigger. So far I can still pull them up I just cant button them so I use a hairtie to hold the button together and cover that with a belt and my shirt covers that. I think I might have to just give in and buy at least 2 pair of maternity jeans. Sad

  • Ya, they are expensive and you can't wear the pants for that long! I know they have some at Old Navy and also Target...but I still don't want to pay even $30. (cheap, i know!)  I am going to check out Ross too.  I have a ton of stretchy pants, but I am afraid those aren't 'businessy' enough for work..

    arrggg!

  • By week 12 I had already had to order maternity pants...

  • I'm still wearing most of my pants. I've put away my "good" jeans which are super fitted but my casual jeans are still sweet. I'm just keeping an eye out online for second hand maternity stuff. You wear it for such a short amount of time there's no need to buy it new.

  • I am 14w3days and spent my weekend at the maternity store buying new pants because my old ones don't fit. So you're not alone.

Do you have any consignment stores in your area? We have tons and they have great deals on gently used maternity clothes.  And it's completely and totally normal to need to move into maternity clothes at 14wks. Heck, I think it's great that you made it that far.  I was happy to have made it to 12 wks this time around. Good luck find some deals.

  • Ummm you are not alone. =)  Gained 9lbs already. I was 11 weeks at that point.. haven't weighed myself since but I don't feel much different. I've been sooo sick so I haven't worked out like I was prior to getting pregnant.. been eating more. I had to buy all new clothes.  My personal experience, was that most maternity clothes were still too big for me so I just bought a size up in a few things to get me by until maternity clothes fit.  I also bought the belly band which has been really helpful. I didn't like it my first time around but this time it seems to be working well.

Yup, this is is me each pregnancy.  I just eat normally when I'm pregnant and I gain weight.  You will lose it.  Buy three pair of pants and wear them over and over.

  • Can you wear dresses to work? If so, since you are so small you could probably fit into cute "A" line dresses from stores like Forever 21 and Target. I am still wearing some of my dresses from pre-preggo and I am 18 weeks. It depends on the cut of the dress.

Also Macy's has been having good sales on Maternity clothes, you can get away with 3 pairs of pants for the work week. Especially if they are black. I think my pants were about $25 each and they are work place appropriate. My biggest problem are bras, I feel like I could buy a new size every week!

    Good Luck!

  • I don't know how much I've gained so far, but I do know that I can't zip my pants up anymore. They were getting super unconfortable to wear, and I swear the last day I tried to squeeze in to a pair of jeans I had mild cramping from the pressure on my tummy all day. Last week was the first full week where all I wore were skirts and dresses to work (thank god it's more than warm enough for that kind of attire). I also broke down and bought a pair of maternity jeans from Old Navy since they had a sale and all Smile Your are definitely not alone.

  • I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, and I had only gained like a pound and a half...yet none of my pants fit me.  You are definitely not alone!

  • i was wearing the bella band and buying maternity shorts at 10/11 weeks.  i am only 5ft tall and was about 118 before pregnancy... at my last appt. (at the beginning of july) my weight went up to 123 which isn't a lot but it's all belly... all my regular pants fit on my legs, thighs and butt... but i just can't button anything.  i'm just now getting to the point though where my bella band is starting to feel too tight and i'm getting maternity pants.

  • I am the same way! Went last week to get maternity pants! They are so much more comfortable! :) I haven't gained much weight (yet!) but definitely have started showing.

  • I didn't need maternity clothes with my dd until almost 20 weeks - this time, it's a different story! I can wear my regular pants with a bella band, but maternity pants are way more comfy. If you are looking for deals - check out consignment stores or consignment sales (JBF, etc). I love brand names, but I'm too frugal to buy them unless they are on sale. I just went to a local Kid to Kid consignment shop that also has a maternity section and found some great work pants, a nice pair of Gap blue jeans and three cute, newer tops for $40. These shops are hit or miss, but sometimes you can score big on the deals.

I want to say that I switched into maternity pants around fourteen to fifteen weeks. I saw someone else suggested trying to find a consignment shop. Consignment shops are awesome! The prices are normally really good.

  • Dresses are going to be your new best friend...I wore dresses 3-4 times a week when I was pregnant with dd (and I'm starting to wear them a lot now).  They are much easier to fit into while you are pregnant.

If you insist on pants, check out Burlington...the shirts are usually cheesy, but the selection of pants are much better and their prices are very reasonable.

  • Just bite the bullet and buy some maternity pants.
  • I am still at pre-pregnancy weight, but I was big enough to be uncomfortable in my pants by about week 9. I went yard saling for ALL my maternity clothes. The most I spent on a pair of pants was $2, and that was for nice work slacks. I have a ton of cabris, pants, even shorts, tops and more, and I've maybe spent $10-$15? Yard sale for them, you'll be amazed at what people sell and for cheap. Plus, they're in great condition because some of them were worn for only one pregnancy!

  • I probably *could* squeeze into regular pants with a hair tie and a bella band but I dont know why I would want to, maternity pants are soooo comfy!

I have been wearing a ton of dresses though and since I have been on bedrest just yoga pants

  • Ebay and Target are great places to find clothes at an affordable price. Don't be afraid to talk to other pregnant friends. Most of us save maternity clothes and just pass them around, adding some to the pot.
