Do we have anyone from OK on here?

I posted on the local board for OK and have had only a few views and no responses. I think 3 of the views were mine Sad. I have never been to OK and was just looking for some insight.

XP from the OK board. https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/56104134.aspx

Re: Do we have anyone from OK on here?

  • Um... I've BEEN to OK.

It's hot.  Very hot.   And there are tornadoes all the time.   Oh, and nasty ice storms in the winter.

Apparently weather is all I can recall.

  • Same here BB. All I remember about OK is the unibomber and tornado alley. :(

  • Ice storms??? That was definitely NOT on the city's home page. I was thinking it was too far south for *that* harsh of winters.

I thought the Unibomber lived in a little wooden shack in Montana? I wouldn't swear to it, but I think they just sold it. LOL. It's not like he'll be back there any time soon.

I think it was Montana too. But yeah, never been but: tornadoes, and fields and a whole  lotta nuthin'.

Sorry. You are absolutely right. It was Timothy McVeigh I was thinking about. Such evil men they both are/were.

  • I'm only an hour south of OK.  Really crazy hot right now.  Yes, the ice storms in the winter can be nasty, but the good news is that no one expects you to show up for work when they happen.  The whole area (at least in Texas) shuts down.

  • I just read your post on OK and saw that you were asking about Tulsa.  That's much closer to Missouri than Texas, so the similarities may be few.  However, I did have a brief fling with the most beautiful guy who was born and raised in Tulsa. His accent was to die for!

  • Geography is by far my worst subject, so it really doesn't surprise me that my impression of it was wrong. I had no idea the winters were so horrible. DH is looking at a few other locations. One is more SE. Then of course, we may just stay here - but we have cold winters too, though not ice storm cold.
