Thank you card Etiquette

I got a gift for Ava from my Aunt and Uncle in the mail.  When I was up in NY last week, I saw them and my Aunt asked me if I had recieved the gift.  I had received it the day before we left, so I hadn't had a chance to send out a thank you letter yet.  

So when my aunt asked if I had received it, I said "Yes I did, Thank you".  Since I thanked her verbally, should I still send out a Thank you card?  Is that the proper thing to do?

    I would still send out a formal TY card.  I would mention how much Ava likes the gift or if its clothes, how cute she looks in it.

    I would....I mean I doubt she would care if you didn't send one but honestly its the nice thing to do!  Maybe include a cute picture of Ava family always loves pictures! =)

    You can never go wrong by sending a handwritten thank you note.  I'd send one for sure...

    I would send  a formal thank you card.  I think it's the nice thing to do.

    I would but I don't think you have to since you did thank her. I always think formal thank you cards are nice and am sad that most people don't take a few minutes to write them out.
